[Week 26, day 3, late night|Dream] Theft and Mantra

This life in your hands is tiny, pulsating, sleepily protesting. The sounds it makes are small as well, reaching your ears from the distance between hands and head, and yet they bother you a little too much. The creature is frightened, taken from its nest and brought into this strange wide world, lost to everything it knows it it's short - so short, just begun - life.

It's just been born, and your theft is a cruel, terrible thing.

You lean down, tug upward, the trembling lavender creature brought close to your face so that you can speak to it.

"Hush" and "calm" have no effect. The crooning of words sang for centuries from mothers to children likewise is pointless, the minuscule dragon simply burying its head between your hands, poking a tufted tail upward, toward your face.

That tickles.

Worse, the soft creature still hasn't stopped its panicked mewling, and despite having successfully carried it away from the parents, you are troubled by the sound. It's not guilt, not truly, as your motivations for this act are clear enough for your own conscience. But... you just want it to... stop.

"I'm taking you to Teito."

And suddenly, the creature is entirely still. Silent. One small inquisitive eye peeks out at you, almost suspicious, and there on your own face? There's a wide smile. You say it again.

"Teito. Teitoteitoteito."

And the little creature? It perks right up, bouncing a little in your wide palms, turning an eager face against your thumb.

"We're not there yet..."

Chomp.

[Chomp. Chomp. The bites don't stop as the man awakes, and he blinks a little, his eyes focusing in on the tiny creature that seems quite content to be chewing on his hand while he sleeps.]

Go sleep with Teito, stupid.

[And just like in the dream, it's that name, that one word, that causes the little creature to calm, to settle, to rest a soft lavender head against Frau and close his eyes. It's a name that rarely enough passes the man's lips, and he isn't about to change that.]

Damn brats and damn dragons.

[One more thing is added to the list, as he reaches over to turn off the device that seems to be blinking at him.]

Damn Hitomi.
