[Lenalee takes in his appearance curiously, wondering where he is from. He looks unlike anyone she has ever seen before.]

You're in a place called Kannagara. People are brought here from other worlds, sometimes. I can't offer you a way out, but I can try to answer any questions you might have.

[Zevran's smile widens, warm and inviting.] Well, maybe this place won't be too bad if it's populated by beauties like you. [The flirting's automatic, easy as breathing for him. ]

[The smile fade though, his face turning serious as he asks]

This place...does it have some kind of ruler? Or is it utterly lawless?

[The flirtation earns him a laugh, a little uncomfortable but mostly just deflecting.]

I suppose that the ones who bring us here are the rulers, but there aren't any set laws. They do occasionally intervene, but for the most part they do not interact with us directly. The natives probably have a system of laws.

Oh, there are natives here too? [Somehow Zevran had just imagined this place to be empty except for the ones the so called gods brought in.] How do they feel about a bunch of strangers in their land?

[Ah, native versus outsider politics.]

It varies. Things don't usually escalate to violence, lately, but there is tension. All of the natives have a mark on their forehead-- that's how they can tell us apart, when dealing with other humans.

[She has no idea what Zevran is, but guesses that it is something not quite human.]

Some are perfectly friendly though. I work with a few merchants, and I know others who are employed by natives too. Mostly they will just look at you a little oddly, it's easy enough to ignore.

[The response isn't exactly surprising. Of course there would be a mixed reaction to strangers invading a native's land, no matter the way they did so. Zevran nods simply and carefully stores away the little tidbit about the mark for identifying the natives.]

The natives, do they look like humans too? [dryly] And will I have the good fortune of sticking out a little more?

You won't be the only one, there have been some non-natives far less human-looking than you here in the past. To the natives, we probably appear equally strange.
