[ Juudai had been about to go looking for something like civilization - hopefully there'd be some kind of town or village within a reasonable walking distance - but he's just heard something from the other side of the tree (the huge tree), and it sounds like a voice. And not a voice he knows, either.

Kuriboh trills his nervousness and vanishes for the time being while Juudai makes his way through the lush vegetation. The scenery is so beautiful here. It's so beautiful that Juudai actually feels a bit worried, like something bad might happen just because no place can be this perfect. Maybe it would be wise to keep an eye on the plants, just in case.

There's a guy standing there, talking into his own phone-thing (the back said "Hitomi," is that the brand or is that what it is?). Juudai calls out: ]

Hey! Uh - hi there! Do you know where we are?

[ Sam can't read the Japanese; he just knows it's a device that allows him to communicate with the outside world.

He turns quickly, a defensive stance immediately overtaking the calm that had been there only moments before. He sees the approaching young man, however, and relaxes again not long after. He seems fairly harmless, and as lost as Sam himself happens to be. ]

I'm not sure. Not anywhere near home, though. I know that much.

No, we're definitely in an alternate dimension. [ Said very promptly, as if there was absolutely nothing crazy or out of the norm about this. Juudai glances around again. ] I don't know which one, though. Seems pretty spirit-heavy, though. [ There are a lot of random, glowing things moving around in the grasses. ] I'm not sure why we'd be here.

[ Who is this guy, anyway? He speaks really good Japanese, could he be some kind of businessman? A pro duelist? ]

[action at himorogi] i think i won't have him since really his power is darkly rooted and whatnot

Uh - is this something you're used to? Being dragged out of your dimension? [ Sam is used to really weird shit but being yanked into an alternate dimension isn't the norm for him and he's a little confused as to how someone seems to not even blink at the fact that that's what this is. And he's completely oblivious to the fact that he's speaking Japanese. It feels like English to him. He's processing this for awhile. So much that he's not even paying attention to the rest of everything. Except he did catch 'spirits'... ] Spirits? Like ghosts?

[ Juudai points to a glowing thing that looks like a flower moving in the grasses near them. ] Like that. Can you see it? [ If this guy can't, it's probably some kind of spirit, as Juudai had expected. ] - Never mind.

Anyway, the alternate dimension thing... [ Juudai rubs the back of his head and laughs - a little awkwardly. ] It's sort of happened once or twice. I mean, it's not like it's a thing you get used to, but... [ Vague hand gesture. ]

[ He just stares, confusedly, and shakes his head. What the hell is this kid talking about? Whatever. He'll just move on. ]

To you? Is that like a normal thing where you're from?

[action at himorogi]

Not... not really. [ Not really at all, actually. This conversation is not going quite as planned. ] But I sort of attract weirdness... It's kind of a long story.

A-anyway, the point is, it's not going to be easy to get home. [ Juudai frowns. ] Sometimes you can find portals that open up naturally, but it's up to chance.

How do you know there are even portals in this reality? [ He's so confused and upset about being here, okay, he can't think straight. ] I mean, how can you be so sure that's what we're dealing with? Aside from what everyone else is saying.

[ Wow, this guy asks a lot of questions. ]

Well, I don't know if there are portals in this reality. That's why we have to go look for them.

[ Juudai pulls his deck out from the holder attached to his belt and flicks Winged Kuriboh's card out with practiced ease. ]

Come on out. [ he says to the card itself, and suddenly a tiny little ball of brown fluff with two large eyes and a pair of miniature wings flits behind Juudai's head, apparently shy.

To Sam: ] I know this is an alternate dimension because Kuriboh's solid, so this has to be some kind of spirit world. [ Well, what Juudai means is that Kuriboh is physically here by default with no added effort on Juudai's part to bring him here, but those are just really complicated semantics. The point is, they're definitely in a spirit world; the questions are "which" and how did they get there?" ]

[ WHAT THE HELL IS THAT.

WHAT. THE. HELL. IS. Sam reaches back and places a hand on the grip of his gun, just in case. ] ... What is that thing? How did you call it here?

[ What is this guy reaching for behind his - oh god oh god he's got a gun why does he have a gun -

Juudai jumps back, hands held up - ] Easy, easy with that thing! [ When the guy asks a question, Juudai realizes he's not going to shoot. ] It's just Winged Kuriboh, okay? He's a friend. He's my partner. [ Kuriboh's fled already; he's normally skittish around strangers anyway, but the added sudden terror scared him back into the card. ]

What the hell is a winged -.. kuriboh? [ He's slow with his gun, not drawing it out, just... prepared. ]

[ What... what kind of question is that? ]

He's just a duel spirit! He's harmless! He's really harmless! [ Juudai's still got his hands up, as if Sam were about to arrest him. ] I promise, just... don't shoot.

[ Juudai slowly lowers his arms, regarding Sam with a wary look. ]

... No. I don't. Clearly. So, explain.
