It's a little hard to tell, since she's looking up at the trees, but her expression seems to have moved past confusion to shock.]

[there was a new person. Amelia waved, wondering if she had the video turned on. Anyway, it was her duty to help with welcoming. Well, self-appointed duty.]

[Tanyu starts, eyes widening in shock at the image that appears on the device. It slips a little in her hand, but she doesn't drop it.]

Well, I don't really know how it works, but it lets you talk to people who aren't around you. Like right now, I'm in Hisato, and you're probably near the big tree, right?

I'm not the best person to ask. I don't really know how it works or anything, just that we all get one when we arrive here. I can't even read the writing on the back.

[Should she mention the dreams? Probably, but the new woman seems weirded out already by the Hitomi in general. So maybe she should wait until she's sure the woman has internalized 'magic talking box'.]

[A device that carries pictures and sound the way the Uro mushi carry letters between cocoons? Well, Tanyu reflects with a hint of a smile, anything is possible in dreams.] That seems useful.

[She can't help but be a little concerned about her location, though. She looks around at the scenery again.] The big tree? There are a lot of trees here.

Oh. Well, when I woke up here, there was a giant tree. The biggest tree I've seen in my life. But maybe you woke up somewhere else?

[Though most people seemed to arrive in the same spot. Huh.]

I think I see a big tree over there.

Oh! Then you're where I thought you were! Himogo... Ah, Himorogi. It's pretty empty there, but there's villages around if you don't mind a little walk.

[Tanyu looks down again, past the Hitomi. Her right leg is as it always has been. Ink-black. Unmoving. This isn't one of the dreams where she has sealed the mushi and is free to move.

She turns her attention back to the device and manages a polite smile.] I think I might want to stay here a little longer. [She gazes at the scenery once more, and her smile grows brighter.] It's beautiful.

Okay. Just be careful. The roads are mostly safe, but you shouldn't be walking about alone after dark, unless you're some kind of awesome warrior or sorceress or something. But if you give me a call, I can come and walk you back to Hisato.

[Not that it wouldn't be nice to just relax like the new person is doing, but she had promised her roommates she'd find steady employment.]

Well, people have mentioned bandits on the road, and it would be just like a bandit to attack at night.

[Never mind that most bandits would probably just decide anyone on the road alone was a good target and not wait. Or the times Amelia herself had participated in a night attack.]

But Himorogi is pretty safe, even at night. At least I think it is. Though I don't know about you, but it's probably not comfortable to camp there outside without supplies.

[Amelia didn't realize Tanyu still hadn't gotten into the 'this is not a dream' part of the experience. ]
