[She should be more concerned about the fact she went from being in New York to being here, but Claire can't really be bothered but to do anything but stare at the beautiful scene surrounding her. She's holding a phone in one hand and knows that she's recording, but doesn't really make any hurry to do anything interesting. She's standing in the

Hey. I'm Matt, and there isn't a way back, sorry. Think it's pretty safe to say none of us exactly volunteered for this.

I'd have to question the sanity of anyone who wants to wake up in a strange place with no clue about how they got there.
[She smirks at the camera, her eyes obviously settling in on the fact he's smoking. She considers telling him how terrible it is for him, but instead just focuses on the part of what he said that helps her.]
And how long have you been here? There could be a way back you just don't know about yet.

He has to think about the time, as usual.]
Since the summer, but time's all fubar here. It feels like shorter and longer at the same time.
[He takes another drag.]
I've… looked for a way out. I mean, I kinda don't have anything to go back to, but I tried to, um. Get off the map the Hitomi shows. You can't. Not by just traveling, anyway.

Great. This is just what I needed in my life.
[She falls quiet for a few moments, and is thinking over the next best question to ask.]
Do you know why we were brought here? I mean, there has to be a reason.
...right?

[He really does wish he had better news to give her.]
But it's not awful. [He flashes a grin.] I mean, sometimes it is. But I wouldn't trade the good parts for anything.

I'm not exactly one of those people who was meant to be zen. I'm impulsive on a good day.
[She doesn't fully buy the whole smile and good memories thing, not yet. If it was so good here, why were people talking about getting home at all?]
What kind of good things have happened to you so far?

Still, the good things he's found in Kannagara are awfully good.]
I, um. [Fell in love. Twice. He blushes.] I've met some people I wouldn't have known otherwise.
But I am kinda zen, so maybe you oughta compare notes with someone who isn't. [He could suggest someone.]

[She wrinkles up her nose as she thinks things over, and eventually shrugs. She has to find a positive spot in all of this, doesn't she? Something to make herself sound less terrible than she actually is.]
I guess I should be excited about the possibility of meeting new people, right? It's not something I get to do a lot back home, thanks to an overprotective dad and a less than perfect reputation at school.

I dunno if I'm advanced enough to give lessons yet. Hey, you should meet my girlfriend! She's our age, and… not very zen, ha.
[Normally, he might mention that she's also a vampire, but he's gotten a little of his old paranoia back where that particular issue is concerned.]
But she kicks ass, and she's really sweet.
