[ Week 17, Day 1 | Video ]

Jan 05, 2011 20:17

[ Peter is angry, eyes dark and flashing as he comes on screen, looking furious as he addresses the camera. His hair has been growing in the time that he's gotten here, and it isn't quite long enough to fall over his eyes just yet. A deep furrow is drawn between his eyebrows ( Read more... )

[Yamamoto doesn't think the rage is misplaced. In fact, it's very righteous and in place. Years ago, maybe, he too would have reacted this way. But now, things have dulled down to something else. He will watch the play of angry lines on Peter's face. He will acknowledge it, not dismiss it. At the same time: ]

Do you have a plan?

[Yamamoto is not a stranger to people being sold like property. There are a lot of things in the mafia that pretty much is also present in Kannagara. The mafia's sins. And maybe it's a little strange for Yamamoto to be almost impartial to it, or maybe he's just so used to it to know that a strong enraged reaction like this is what always sets things in motion.

It surely was like that. Back then. With Tsuna's will…

Yamamoto's will, even.]

[ See, that's the thing. Peter was hoping to find people -- like minded people -- to make a plan. He didn't so much have an idea of exactly what he was going to do, so much as an end goal. Figuring out how to actually get there is the hard part. ]

No. Not yet. I was hoping that I could get together with people who support this cause and make a plan, though.

[Yamamoto weighs that answer for a minute, studying Peter closely. When he finally answers, he speaks as if he were standing face to face with Peter, look at those eyes with a little too much focus, too much clarity. A blink, then: ]

Rescuing a handful of these victims would be useless and a waste of time and resources. These kind of things always run on some sort standard or pattern. Either they're run individually or by a group. Either way, they are catering to a demand that is present in Kannagara. Getting rid of the business men or dealers is your best course of action. You will likely need to undergo a lot of research, questioning, push comes to pull, perhaps even infiltrating the market yourself. You'll need resources in big amounts, you know, understand the game, so to speak. Then taking it down would be easy.

[A beat.]

That's not going to erase the demand. If there is a demand, there will always be victims.

[A pause and the piercing gaze is broken once more with a blink.]

What do you think?

You're right.

[ Peter doesn't even hesitate with his answer. He realizes that Yamamoto understands the intricacies of what's going on far better than he does -- and really, he needed to hear this, needed perspective. He's still angry, but the anger is a quiet and reigned in, more focused than it was before. ]

So, uh, how do you think we should go about with this?

[Yamamoto smiles.]

Hmm, easy! Study your opponents and gather enough resources! You know, money, contacts, that kind of stuff~

[He says it like it's so easy. Except, it really isn't. Yamamoto and Gokudera have permanent migraines the size of Kannagara to attest to this.]

You say that like it's a walk in the park.

[ Yeah, Peter knows it's not easy. ]

Think of it as a big park. Lots of ducks and uneven roads and stuff to make you trip and all.

[Never easy. But he's smirking just a little bit.]

...Right.

[ IS TOTALLY AWARE YOU ARE TROLLING HIM, YAMAMOTO. ]

It's not impossible. But it's a long walk.

[Trolling, yes. But that's how Yamamoto is. Hide the hard things under the pretense of it being easy and a game. But really, games are serious.]

Question is do you have what it takes to, you know, finish the walk, not get eaten by ducks and trip and scab your knees. Think about it a little, hmm?

[ Peter's sure he has what it takes, but this isn't really the right place to sound too cocky or anything like that. ]

Yeah, I will. Thanks.

When you come up with a plan or an idea, then we'll talk.

[Because unless the person reacting the loudest has no plan or tactic, then Yamamoto can't spare his own power. Not when it's already fully invested in something else.]

Peter.

[A dip of his head and he leaves that offer. Take it as you will.]
