[ backdated video ] Week Fourteen, Day One

[Kuchiki Byakuya's unimpressed stare is what greets those who watch this video. He, himself, looks a little on the 'unimpressive' side--he didn't have time to do his hair this morning. It would not be wise to point this out, though. Not even Byakuya gets up at midnight. Especially not to fight. But that is beside the point and he decides, yes, he' ( Read more... )

On my way to the Izanagi shrine. I'm meeting three people there, however if you are passing close to the road from Kusasato, I can attempt to meet you.

[The convenient way things never seem to take more than a half-hour on foot may be nice for avoiding attacks, but it makes it hard to plan routes.

[Iroh finds himself slipping into his old General role. Or Grand Master. Either requires different things than being a simple tea seller. It's always surprising how quickly it comes back to him.]

[Byakuya takes a moment to look at the map and decide a route--he has to consider Hisana's health and his own stamina, after all. A river crossing... they would have to anyway. He decides the earlier, the better. They'd have their strength, would be able to avoid contact with it.]

Meet with them. [Only because he doesn't want to hear complaining later.]

We can retrieve you at the shrine itself. [This way, they'll be certain to find each other and if a certain someone needs a rest, she can take a break there.]

[He only hears the audio, running with his earpiece and trying to figure out what's going on. It causes him to blink a little at the familiar tone. Ah, he remembers that... can't quite from where.

Wait. No, he'd remember that way of talking beyond an actual voice even. For a moment, he'd almost think it was Kanda except it's too... calm?]

Byakuya?

[And he is pretty good with remembering people and names. Might not consider himself social, people are hard to forget. ... ... And you did leave a bit of an impression. Just not sure if it was good or bad yet. But an impression of... some kind.]

A lot of us still in Hisato- [Blunt for him if not exactly rude; distracted and focused at the same time like he's looking around, some static over the line.] -trying to get them out.

We can try to meet up with you outside.

[Safety in numbers regardless, right?]

[That boy. One of Ukitake's friends. He hasn't paid much attention to him. Truthfully, there are very few here who are worthy of his time. But this isn't the time for it. Byakuya, at least, remembers him by voice.

He gives only a small frown. He isn't trying to save everyone, is he? He doesn't know the powers of others, but Byakuya and his 'shield' can't protect everyone in Hisato. And he won't wait for him to play hero. He has his own priorities.]

Ten minutes. Then we will leave whether you have met us or not. There are others who require my aid.

[He would like to get as many as they can. Realistically, they can't. It's a decision he has to make, as a captain. Protect as many as possible, because no one can protect everyone.]

[He can certainly try to protect everyone, though.]

Ten minutes?

[Some dismay at that - not enough time, not enough at all.]

There's no way that... There are still so many people here-

[But there's a frustrated pause as well, he does want to get whoever he can to safety, so-]

[His tone shifts, clearer and more resolute.]

I'll be there with as many as I can.

[Because then he can go back and look for others. That should work for everyone, right?]
