[ His smile is there as always, eyes alight with mirth as he plays a familiar tune. He's still moving them, high up in the clouds as they ghost over the chaotic plains of Kannagara below
( ... )
[He might not see the video; he's too busy this day running yet never being fast enough. People cut down before he can get to them. The Hitomi is the last thing on his mind, certainly nothing to pick up and watch anything over - but an Exorcist does always have his wireless communicator worn on the ear. A direct reply, the beep, that voice.
Allen literally stumbles at hearing that voice and his own is beyond startled as he replies, a first when "encountering" the Earl maybe, but never did he think... well, to just hear him like that suddenly.
There's sounds of chaos in the background as well; he's far from the sort of person to just stop somewhere safe while this was going on.]
[Choosing to answer in kind, the Earl begins walking down the road, heedless of the screams, the demon fodder trying to run, to escape, all around him.
He gives Lero a playful twirl, to which the umbrella shrieks a protest, bright eyes scanning the fallen bodies until they light upon that just right soul.]
Did you like my present? My little angel was soo looking forward to meeting you. ♥
[ A pause, and crying, deep and inconsolable can be heard as the Earl leans in and offers with a mock-gentleness, clearly no longer speaking to Allen.]
Dry your tears my dear, for you need not mourn your baby's loss. Would you like to see your child again? [ Another pause as the crying seems to fade. Then a woman's tremulous voice, whispering an uncertain 'yes'.]
These detestable gods should have protected you, but fear not...all you need do is call his name, my dear. From the depth of your heart, call him back to us and I shall return him to you...

[There's a bite of a retort about the level 4 on his lips, but it drops and Allen stiffens, going still even as the group of locals he'd been running guard with continues towards Raisato. There were others with them, they'd be okay, but-
What...
He knows that bargain.]
EARL!
[It of course won't help, but Allen whirls around for a moment, not-so-white-anymore cloak flapping harshly as he looks wildly around for signs of... of... There's only endless lines of people marching on; the early evening red and hard to see through; funny, like a fog almost.Thick, acrid, sulfuric, and copper-smelling with the blood and distant cries. Can't see, couldn't see, not that he's close, he has to stop that contract, where is he... How can he do that here, anyway?! Aren't things different, if the 14th's powers are sealed aren't the Earl's?!
He's pulling his Hitomi out to see - no, it's just audio after all, not video, can't see where this is happening - switching it to video as well because you bastard, show him where you are and he'll be there in

[It hits without warning. That sickness, the urge to just hunch over and throw up. He remembers that from the attack of the level 4, how Allen emptied his stomach in front of that wretched baby angel-like thing that forced them down several floors and nearly destroyed the whole HQ.
It's without warning but it doesn't surprise him, because if it gives Allen, the one who has seen the souls of Akuma for years, the urge to throw up then it would obviously cause that to someone who doesn't know. He's sure of this. He always figured it's not a pretty sight. But that's just awful, disgusting, horrible. It's not only because he's holding the Hitomi that he's feeling sick. It's himself too.
He drops the device and decides to get back to the rest of the broadcast later. Next stop; bathroom.]
[Quite a few minutes later, he finishes watching. Even while it wasn't shown, it's quite obvious that that was a level 4's laughter at the end.
So it's time for Akuma to come here, huh?
He figures Allen won't have time to answer directly, considering he's probably fighting the level 4 by now, and it's very likely there are more of them out there, but Cross will contact him anyway. And he would go help too, but Akuma might come to Yomisato too, so he'll stay at least until daybreak to keep an eye on the place. But joining up with the other Exorcists might not be an entirely bad idea right now.
Still' he's sure they can handle a level 4 on their own for now. They're four Exorcists over there, after all, so as long as it's just one they should be fine. All of them should be awake, considering the ring from the Hitomis. Or they're very, very heavy sleepers.]
[It's hard to hear at first, static and still faint screams in the background, his own heavy breathing and the sound of running. But his tone is actually rather quiet, sober.]
We're alright. But a lot of others...
[Trailing off, interrupting with his skipping thoughts. It's painful, those words are enough.
The problem with responding over the earlink is not knowing if it's private or not and he's too distracted to check or perhaps even care-]

[ This was what Allen Walker saw.
Everything. That left eye. The souls.
And a part of him asks, "Isn't this what you wanted, Link, to see what Walker sees?"
...
He's just thankful he has a strong stomach. He's blown people apart with his seals, executed amidst screams and pleas, and other things, yet...yet it all paled in comparison to this.
Unconsciously, he has a hand pressed over the lower half of his face, his mouth and throat dry.
Link, stop it. You're not supposed to be affected by this.
He notes that he feels dizzy.
Right. Who was he again? Crow. A Crow. Not a Exorcist. He should not be affected by this, but he was.
Maybe he understands now somewhat better why Allen acts the way he acts. The feeling of wanting to save.
Hmph. Foreign feeling for someone who killed.
He stares for a quite moment, committing all of this to memory before he finally says something. ]
I suppose this is the cause of all your impulsiveness.
[ Link, you need to stop stating the obvious, he tells himself, but...he has nothing to offer. Just
( ... )
[And later, when he's dragged down and resting at least briefly, trying to find out what's going on...
... That... catches him by surprise, Link. Not that you'd watch, but... actually say something. And he feels bad in general because... god, it kind of hits him around then that wait, right, he had dreamed about... over the Hitomi and its effects it can have.
Oh god. People had actually seen? It's not that he thinks it's a horrific sight for himself to see, but others...
He's quiet for a long while until he decides to reply. He kind of owes at least a reply on this, right? And... it kind of hits him what Link's actual words mean, and there's a bit of a weak smile in his tone. But deflecting, more a polite handwave aside with a smile. Please, no. He's sorry it happened... you should never have seen that.
[... There's a pause because he has to think about that for a moment because somehow he doesn't quite believe that. But he smiles a little at the thought.]
It's not really easy to 'explain' as you can see.
[Or something he'd want to.]
I'm sorry that you found out like that.
[Maybe that's why you shouldn't watch his dreams, though.]
