[Yoite is sitting at the kitchen table finishing off the last of the cake despite the fact that his eyes are drooping dangerously lower from exhaustion with each bite. And its only when he head droops forward and hits the table before he can catch it that he notices the screen of his hitomi blinking. Rubbing at his little forehead he tugs the device to him.
Gau-san....
Immediately he tenses. The dreams Gau has been haven't been pleasant. And this one is almost misleading with the way it starts with the tie and the sheets. So simple. So misleadingly like the old Gau. Like when he dreamed of cleaning and lemon scented soap. Not..
...not the red eyes that follow.
oh gods no . This was going to be a nightmare too.
Almost instantly Yoite gets to his feet, set on going to Gau when the rest of the dream manages to work its way past his instinct to run to his friend. Because that device. That cursed device immediately fills him with the knowledge of what is on those sheets and before he can fling the hitomi away puts the pieces together for him what Gau is doing.
He's watching his own corpse. Watching the way Gau is alone with the nothing Yoite left him and the way he tries to identify something. Anything.
But there's only dust.
He's that dust. And at the same time the dream makes him watch himself being burned away with the sensations and the memories...and the name.
Nothing. He's nothing. He's NOTHING.
and then that kiss.... the way Gau tries to give value to his worthless remains. He wanted that kiss. He died without that kiss. But even without it, he hadn't died alone....Allen... he had had Allen.. but Gau is alone.
Stop
Every nerve trembles and he feels sick to his stomach, face buried in the palms of his hands. Hot tears sear their way down his cheeks. He needs to act. Something in his head tells him that again and again. To move. To go to Gau. But he has been rendered useless. A shuddering ball on the floor amidst choked gasps and screams that never seem to gain sound. Its a tantrum.
Beating his fists against the floor and trying to smash his hitomi but to no avail he his having a tantrum. It continues this way, futile, broken, desperate, until he is out of breath and sore to the bone.]
