[He is not quite sure how to approach this. Why is he the one to do it at all? It doesn't matter. Someone must and if no one else has...]

Ukitake.

I must speak with you.

[Ukitake's a bit surprised when he receives the message. Byakuya's never contacted him personally, other than in response to dreams, and when everyone was first thrown out of their houses and he was very visibly ill.

He still needs to properly thank Byakuya for his help that day, as well as Allen.]

Ah--yes?

[He does not, in truth, actually wish to do this. It means putting someone in Rukia's room, a room untouched since she disappeared.

But Ukitake's health, currently, is top priority. He knows he is not as able as he and Renji to do what is necessary. So he doesn't allow that reluctance through.]

I am aware you remain in the ryokan.

Have you found means to pay tribute?

[The question is equally unexpected, and there's a pause of a few seconds before he responds]

I'm afraid not.

[There's no small measure of embarrassment to this. He's a captain, just like Byakuya, and he's never really cared to play the part of an invalid. But he's not been well in the past week, and it's more than frustrating, the feeling of uselessness that comes of not having the strength to what he has to.]

...I hope to be able to soon.

[He debates. It is best if someone watches over Renji and Renji could watch over Ukitake. For now... it seems like the best option.

And it's much easier to split it three ways instead of two.]

If you have not been offered a place to stay, there is room to spare, here, in Hisato.
