[He's not sure what to say about the dead, nad he doesn't know a lot of the details of what has been happening, because quite honestly he's been more concerned about one specific person.
[ Peter rubs at his eyes, he's exhausted. He shouldn't have gone out after all, shouldn't have left Claire all alone, but he did, and this is clearly his fault. ]

[Byakuran has been a very, very good boy lately Peter. You see, he's been aware of something for a short while now - an idea implanted into his mind during his experiments with Gokudera. Really, all he had to do was put two and two together and the answer had been clear enough.
Exactly why he had felt so suspicious, that first night

[ Great. This is just fucking great, just what he needed. Byakuran taunting him when it's the last thing Peter wanted to deal with. But what he says is unexpected, entirely confusing. ]
What the hell are you talking about?
[ And a little frightening as well -- how did Byakuran know that Peter could absorb powers? It's not exactly something he's gone around telling people. Well, except maybe Lelouch. But he doesn't know why Lelouch would tell anyone about this. ]
I didn't take your ability.
[ Or did he?
Something happened when he shook Byakuran's hand, but he wasn't sure what that something was. ]
[Video | Private]soreloserchanMarch 1 2011, 22:48:26 UTC
[Byakuran clicks his tongue and fixes Peter with a steady, even glare. He is not fond of those who play innocent - but Peter has an annoying earnest and honest face and he can tell that he genuinely does not know what Byakuran is speaking about.
Well - ignorance is no excuse.]
That painting, Peter~.
[He pauses, shakes his head. Not just the painting. Every other Byakuran in every other Kannagara had screamed and whispered Peter's name to him in sharp, irritated voices. References to every great theft in history had been thrown at him and he hadn't got it until he saw that damn painting.
He is unaware, of course, of Peter's precognitive ability to see the future. But he knows now, even if he has misinterpreted the hints. He knows that Peter has taken what is - has copied it into his own flesh and brain.
Byakuran sneers.]
Don't play ignorant with me. At the party; you felt it didn't you? The flashes from other worlds.
[That headache makes sense now. Byakuran is livid at how long he has been in the dark about this.]

[ The flashes of other worlds, of himself and Byakuran -- Peter remembers that mostly because he hadn't understood what the hell had happened. He thought it might have been some kind of hallucination, some kind of strange images Byakuran put in his head. But now this is all starting to make sense. Seeing into other dimensions, or in this case, the possibilities of multiple futures. But that painting had nothing to do with Byakuran. That much is true, even if Peter now knows that he has some kind of ability he doesn't have any idea how to even use. ]
That painting thing was something I could do even in my own world. Unless you're saying that I somehow stole your ability to paint the future before I even met you.
[ Yeah, he's going to try and misdirect the conversation now. ]
How sure are you that she was taken? Has she contacted you, seem distressed?
[Serious, and calm. Because accidental-attempt that Claire pulled off sometime ago is still clear in his mind. No one gets run over by a cart and stands up and look like that.]
[The painting. Matt remembers it perfectly well. Does that mean the kid's hurt, too? And what would they want with Claire?
Oh. It just takes a second for the mental wheels to turn that far. She has powers that can cheat death. Anyone--anyone normal, who hasn't died--would want that.]
Do you know anything other than what you painted? Where they might have gone? Where they grabbed her? Did they take the kid, too?

But. But.
A teenage girl. Younger than himself.]
Where was she last seen? Your friend?

I told her to stay in, to not go out but...
[ Claire clearly didn't listen. ]

It -- it wasn't supposed to happen though. I thought I stopped it! But when I got back home, Claire was gone and I can't reach her.

I've been trying to paint the answer, but it's not working.

Sorry. [Matt takes refuge in snark, sometimes. For the first time, the half-hour thing works against them. She could have gotten anywhere.]
She's not replying to messages?
