This is the official first day of my three week vacation. I woke around 7:30 and proceeded in my normal morning routine (grab a bowl of cereal and proceed to sit in front of computer). It feels really strange that I'm not working. So far, this just feels like a longer weekend. Maybe after I've been off a bit longer it won't feel so weird.
Operation Pick Up the Kate was a success with only a few setbacks (the whole Crosstown area has been re-designed since I last passed through, and I ended up going the wrong way on 62 on the way to the airport) - including a gigantic snowstorm.
I've mentioned many times about how much I Hate. Driving. In. The. Snow. And Saturday was no exception. We managed to make it back to Meesa's and drop off Kate's luggage and picked Lauren up before heading over to the Midway Perkins for some deliciously greasy eggs and pancakes. (My digestion hasn't been the same, but that's probably a result of last night's Mexican food than Perkins. And you're welcome for that TMI.)
Yesterday (Sunday), Kate had the shopping itch, so we hit up Rosedale and ended up walking out with many bags. Fortunately (or unfortunately from my bank account's perspective), we were able to hit up Ulta before going to meet Meesa for dinner at La Casita (also known as Casa Bonita thanks to South Park) where I found a few last-minute presents.
Today we're planning to stop by my office so Kate can say hello to a few people, and then tonight the liquor store is on the agenda. I figure pizza, beer and movies is the best way to begin the holidays. Tomorrow is yet another trip to the airport to drop Meesa off.
After Tuesday, I'm done with trips to the friggin airport until after the new year. Hooray.
