Homecoming: A Poland/Lithuania FST

Nov 12, 2010 01:15

1. If Everyone Cared- Nickelback
(Poland <--> Lithuania, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth)

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died

And I'm singing

Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive
Amen I, Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive

I was unsure of if I should start or end the FST with this; it won the beginning for the cute-rememberence sort of implications.

2. All Summer Long- Kid Rock
(Poland <--> Lithuania, Polish-Lithuanian Commonweath)

Splashing through the sand bar
Talking by the campfire
It's the simple things in life, like when and where
We didn't have no internet
But man I never will forget
The way the moonlight shined upon her hair

And we were trying different things
We were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Semi-carefree days... sort of their last happytiems before the end of the Commonweath.

3. Down With The Ship- Enter the Haggis
(Poland --> Lithuania, Great Northern War/ Destruction of the Commonwealth)

So jive while you can if there's danger ahead
I'll stay on your course if you will
I'll throw you a line as waves start to rise
And bail as your ship starts to fill

I'm not going to stand on the end of the pier
I'm not going to let you go down with the ship
Raise up your anchor, it's time to set sail
And I'm not going to let you go down

Fighting at the end of the Commonwealth. Poland is dedicated, it just... doesn't work.

4. Side of a Bullet- Nickelback
(Lithuania --> Poland, Post-Paritioning)

How could you take his life away? (What makes you think you have the right?)
How could you be so full of hate? (To take away somebody's life)
And when I heard you let him die
And made the world all wonder why
I sat at home and on my own, I cried alone, and scratched your name
On the side of a bullet

Lithuania's initial reaction to hearing about Poland's 'death'. I kind of see it as Russia passing it off like Poland's dead to kill Lithuania's spirits, so... sad!angry!Liet is happening.

5. Ocean Avenue- Yellowcard
(Lithuania --> Poland, Russian Occupation Post-1750)

There's a piece of you that's here with me,
It's everywhere I go, it's everything I see
When I sleep, I dream and it gets me by,
I can make believe that you're here tonight,
That you're here tonight.

If I could find you now,
Things would get better.
We could leave this town,
And run forever
I know somewhere, somehow, we'll be together
Let your waves crash down on me,
And take me away, yeah

This one's rather self-explanitory. I have yet to see it on a FST, so here it is!

6. Here Is Gone- The Goo Goo Dolls
(Poland --> Lithuania, Post-Lithuanian Independence; 1919)

You and I got something
But it's all then it's nothing to me, yeah
I got my defenses
When it comes to your intentions to me,yeah
And we wake up in the breakdown
In the things we never thought we could be, yeah

I'm not the one who broke you
I'm not the one you should fear
We've got to move you darling
I thought I lost you somewhere
But you were never really ever there at all

When Lithuania was recovering after Russian Occupation, Poland was with him and freaking out about his healing. Obviously, Lithuania is traumatized, and this song refers to Poland trying to convince Lithuania that it was okay to be with him and that he wasn't going to hurt him like Russia did.

7. My Paper Heart- The All-American Rejects
(Poland --> Lithuania, Post-Lithuanian Independence; 1919)

Tears fall, down your face
The taste, is something new
Something that I know
Moving on is easiest when I'm around you

So bottle up old love, and throw it out to sea
Watch it away as you cry
a year has passed
The seasons go

Please just don't play with me
My paper heart will bleed
This wait for destiny won't do
Be with me, please, I beseech you
Simple things, that make you run away
Catch you if I can

More Poland to Lithuania cuteness. This one's rather self-explanitory in the lyrics.

8. It's Good To Be In Love- Frou Frou
(Poland --> Lithuania; Lithuania's Trip to America, 1919)

I feel so powerless
I've got to stop it somehow
oh come on, what can I do?

Why's it happening?
How's it happening (without me?)
Why's it happening?
How's it happening that he feels (without me?)

It's good to be in love.
It really does suit you
Just like everything.
I'm happy you're in love,
'Cause every colour goes where you do.
'Cause every colour goes where you do . . . . (goes where you do)
Happy you're in love

When Lithuania left to go with America, Poland was jealous beyond any belief ever, feeling like Lithuania left him 'for' America. This is sadness, obvs.

9. It Only Hurts- Default
(Lithuania --> Poland; Beginnings of the Polish-Lithuanian War; 1919)

Miles away promise from a burning bed
Two worlds should never collide
One word would end it if you ever heard
Tear the page out that reminds me
When I swore that I'd be strong
Now the next time has come and gone well maybe I'm wrong I know

It only hurts when your eyes are open
Lies get tossed and truth is spoken
It only hurts when that door gets open
Dreams are lost and hearts are broken

The Polish-Lithuanian War started because Polish troops invaded Vilinus (Lithuania's capital) to try to reestablish the Commonwealth. He did it without warning and in Hetalia-canon, while Lithuania was with America. Yes, call heartbreak.

10. If You Only Knew- Shinedown
(Poland --> Lithuania; Polish Ultimatum to Lithuania; 1938)

If you only knew
I'm hanging by a thread
The web I spin for you
If you only knew
I'd sacrifice my beating
Heart before I lose you
I still hold onto the letters
You returned
I swear I've lived and learned

It's 4:03 and I can't sleep
Without you next to me I
Toss and turn like the sea
If I drown tonight, bring me
Back to life
Breathe your breath in me
The only thing that I still believe
In is you, if you only knew

I had major issues picking what lyrics to put here, because this whole thing is a pleading sort of song. Poland's trying to make amends with him, since after the conclusion of the Polish-Lithuanian War in 1921, no contact has been established between the two countries. This is Poland's amends and general apology.

11. It's Beginning to Get To Me- Snow Patrol
(Lithuania --> Poland; Beginning of WW2)

And it's beginning to get to me
That I know more of the stars and sea
Than I do of what's in your head
Barely touching in our cold bed

Are you beginning to get get my point
That all this fighting with aching joints
It's doing nothing but tire us out
No one knows what this fight's about

It's so thrilling but also wrong
Don't have to prove that you are so strong
'Cause I can carry you on my back
After our enemies attack

I tried to tell you before I left
But I was screaming under my breath
You are the only thing that makes sense
Just ignore all this present tense

WW2 did a lot for Poland/Lithuania bonding in the tragic sense (but their lives haven't really been good since the Commonwealth, so derp). The lyrics say it all in this one.

12. Alive With The Glory of Love- Say Anything
(Poland <--> Lithuania, WW2)

And when our city, vast and shitty, falls to the Axis (yeah)
They'll search the buildings, collect gold fillings, wallets and rings (oh yeah)
But Ms. Black Eyeliner, you'd look finer with each day in hiding (oh yeah)
Beneath the wormwood, oooh, love me so good.
They won't hear us screw away the day. I'll make you say:

(Alive! Alive!
Alive with love, alive with love tonight)

No, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you
Hell no no, oh no, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you, hell no no.

Our Treblinka is alive with the glory of love!
Treblinka, alive, with the glory of love, yeah!

Originally the anthem for this FST, my personal headcanon kind of has this song laced into it. Historically, after Polish invasion by Germany in 1939, Lithuania provided free asylum for 35,000 of Poland's people, so I kind of imagine them hiding out and Poland finally getting caught. Another historical tidbit: The Nazi's didn't move much into the Baltic area initially because they were having too much trouble with Poland's Jewish population and the Polish's attitude towards the Nazi's. Basically, there was adorable protection going on.

13. The Saltwater Room (Original Edit)- Owl City
(Lithuania --> Poland; Post-WW2, Iron Curtain)

I opened my eyes last night and saw you in the low light
Walking down by the bay, on the shore,
Staring up at the planes that aren't there anymore
I was feeling the night grow old and you were looking so cold
Like an introvert, I drew my overshirt, around my arms and began to shiver violently
Before you happened to look and see, the tunnels all around me
Running into the dark, underground
All the subways around create a great sound
To my motion fatigue, farewell
With your ear to a seashell
You can hear the waves in underwater caves
As if you actually were inside a saltwater room

(Time together is just never quite enough)
When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home
(What will it take to make or break this hint of love?)
We need time, only time
(When we're apart whatever are you thinking of?)
If this is what I call home, why does it feel so alone
(So tell me darling do you wish we'd fall in love?)
All the time, all the time

These lyrics are self-explanitory. Healing together after Russian Occupation in the post-WW2 era.

14. House of Wolves- My Chemical Romance
(Lithuania --> Poland; Post-WW2, Iron Curtain)

And say, say
What I wanna say
Tell me I'm an angel,
Take this to my grave.
Tell me I'm a bad man,
Kick me like a stray.
Tell me I'm an angel,
Take this to my grave.

You better run like the devil,
'Cause they're never gonna leave you alone!
You better hide up in the alley,
'Cause they're never gonna find you a home!
And as the blood runs down the walls,
You see me creepin' up these halls.
I've been a bad motherfucker
Tell your sister I'm another
Go! Go! Go!

This is sort of Lithuania's life inside Russia's house. The 'angel' refrence is Poland, the other is Russia... this is Lithuania's badass side, in short, and where Poland finally starts seeing what Russia does to him.

15. Stop The World- The Goo Goo Dolls
(Poland --> Lithuania; Post-WW2, Iron Curtain)

You need someone to hold you
You need somethin' that you ain't been getting
Yeah, I could be the one
To tell you what to do, but it don't mean nothing
And you're holding on forever
But that something just ain't true
I'm just like you
And I know
It's what I'd do
Here I go

Cuz I can't stop the world, cuz I love you
I can't stop the world, and I don't want to
I can't stop the world, and I won't
Cuz it ain't enough

After Poland sees all the hell Russia brings down upon Lithuania, this is his reaction song for wanting to help. The lyrics pretty much say it all.

16. It Sucks- Skye Sweetnam
(Poland --> Lithuania; Post-WW2, 1970's)

It's just simple kiss and
No one has to ever know
What she doesnt know won't hurt her
As long as I don't let it show
And we'll keep it just between us
Bottled up inside
Just our little secret
I'll be playing dumb and acting shy

Goin crazy for a week (crazy for a week)
Your Girlfriend's gonna freak(she's gonna freak)
Because I know that I'd be freaking too
Cause that's the thing that girlfriends do

It's so frustrating you're not the type that I should be dating
No matter where I go or what I do
It sucks cause I wanna be with you

The girlfriend is refrence to Russia, ahaha. But the lyrics are pretty self-explanitory in themselves, again.

17. Bang the Doldrums- Fall Out Boy
(Poland <--> Lithuania; Post-WW2, 1970's)

And I cast a spell over the West
To make you think of me
The same way I think of you

This is a love song in my own way
I believe that the rest is below the waist

Best friends, ex-friends 'till the end
Better off as lovers
Racing through the city
Windows down in the back
Of yellow-checkered cars

Secret sex in Russia's house, totally. I completely blame this track on daegaer's fic Palpable Hit. As Poland would classify it, this is 'Under Communism'.

18. Check Yes Juliet- We The Kings
(Poland --> Lithuania, Post-Polish Independence)

Check yes Juliet, kill the limbo
I'll keep tossing rocks at your window
There's no turning back for us tonight

Lace up your shoes (ay oh ay oh oh)
Here's how we do

Run baby run
Don't ever look back
They'll tear us apart
If you give them the chance
Don't sell your heart, don't say
We're not meant to be
Run baby run
Forever will be, you and me

I kind of imagine Poland trying to break Lithuania free after he gains independence and Lithuania is still trapped under Russia's rule. So Romeo-and-Juliet, though I suppose Poland should be the girl. XD

19. Homecoming- Hey Monday
(Lithuania --> Poland, Post-Lithuanian Independence, 1991)

Homecoming, I’m coming
My sweet mistake
Summer’s over, hope it’s not too late
I’m pacing, impatient
Up in my head
Taken back to the sidewalk where we met

And carved out our names
Do you remember that?

I’m coming home, I’m coming home
Did you take off while I was gone?
I missed it all, I messed you up, I missed you
I’m coming home, I wanna know
When all the leaves begin to fall
If I’m falling, falling apart for you

Lithuania coming back to Poland after his independence. It's cute okayyy. General anthem for this FST, as well.

20. 1, 2, 3, 4- Plain White T's
(Lithuania --> Poland; Present Day)

Give me more lovin' from the very start,
Piece me back together when I fall apart,
Tell things you never even tell your closest friends-
Make it feel good when I hurt so bad, Best I that I've had,
I'm so glad I found you, I love bein' around you.

The happy ending-ish track.

BONUS TRACKS

What the fuck? You could totally see his fucking tracks. Oh my god.

Is that a new tattoo?

No jkjkjk lololol

I-I don't even know. Just. Poland, ilu. The Eyebrows refrence is so England 8DDD

22. Taylor, The Latte Boy- Kristen Chenoweth
(Poland --> Lithuania)

So today at 8:11 when he smiled and said "How are you?"
I said "Fine, and my name's Kristen"
And he softly answered, "Hey."
And I said "My name is Kristen, and thank you for the extra foam…"

And he said his name was Taylor,
Which provides the inspiration for this poem:

Taylor the latte boy,
Bring me java, bring me joy!
Oh Taylor the latte boy,
I love him, I love him, I love him...

Sub 'Kristen' with 'Feliks' and 'Taylor' as 'Toris'. Life becomes awesome. I have an alternate set of lyrics for this written specifically for a skit for these two, so it seemed like I needed to include it here.
