About time for one of these again. Here we go. The review of the drill weekend, October 2010
It started off last Saturday morning. Had to be down in Harrisburg for 0730. PT test failures were off to retest, while myself and everyone else who passed got to PMCS'ing the humvees. Once that was done, it was time to stage the vehicles we were taking onto base for the trip. I got pics
Gettin ready
And soon enough we were rolling on down I-81 towards Fort Indiantown Gap. As I've probably said before, civilian vehicles attempting to or actually weaving in and out between the vehicles in the convoy annoy me to no end. Mainly because not every driver knows the exact route, and the last thing I want is Soldiers getting lost.
Despite that though, we do have fun here and there, hence with this pic :P
Another Soldier in my squad being random by staggering the convoy (which in turn, makes the truck want to get in between us x3)
Hehehe good times indeed. Once we got there, my excitement was cut short due to a change of plans (Surprising I know), apparently I wasn't going to be putting up antennas with the rest of the company. Apparently we were going down to Hershey armory again for more MOS specific training. And I admit, I need it. Some of the commo stuff in my job is the kind of thing that you gotta keep somewhat regular on. Otherwise you derp on it. So yea, I wasn't complaining in the end.
After the duty was done, we headed down to a restaurant called The Farmer's Wife. It was my First Sergeant's final drill with us, and we were all joining him in a good dinner in a well deserved send off. During the dinner, we presented him with a gift that our Company Commander had prepared. Here's a pic of it. Three wolves in a snowy landscape, and we had all signed our names and final good wishes around the border. The text reads:
True leaders are not those who strive to be first but those who are first to strive and give their all for the success of the team.
True leaders are first to see the need. envision the plan and empower the team for action.
By the strength of the leader's commitment, the power of the team is unleashed.
The next day was pretty much the same, just without the vehicle moving for me :P Yea, this journal was late in the game, but whatev! It's done now hehe. FurFright soon.....sooooon
