So, I was in charge of our little CCU on Monday. One rather interesting item on Charge report: little old lady from a nursing home, with a signed DNR/DNI, was brought in for a massive stroke and was, wait for it, intubated. Oh boy, oh boy. In my hospital, all vent patients are brought to my unit, BTW. The nurse who had her that night said "everytime she farts, she goes into V. Fib."

As you can imagine, me and everyone who hears this is like, "WTF? No way!!"

But sure enough, when we went in there and started to smell something, a run of V. Fib would pop up on the monitor seconds later. Fortunately, her family signed (another) DNR before she let her last one rip (we need our hospital's DNR signed after 24hrs).

Her doc said, "well, at least she went out with a bang."
