Yeah, I'm a Janime member - the currently wayward mod Cindy.
Love the Bunkoban art. That's why I bought 'em! Don't have any larger scans right now. Old computer died and hasn't been fixed yet.
Nope, Akira Itou drew R. Takahasi said his input into the R and GX manga was minimal.
Thanks for the link heads-up! Nothing too exciting in there, just the cover and some monster shots. Hmm, be nice if I could get into the darn FTP to fix it... Given the number of errors I'm currently getting, my server seems to be on the fritz... -___-;;
So his assistant helped him draw the regular Yugioh manga too? Because it looks pretty much like the same styles for both series.
Btw, I don't suppose you know any japanese? I'm currently translating for Himitsu, and I'm sure they have someone to look over the translation (since I'm not that good and I do translate kinda literally most instances), but it'd be nice to know someone who knows japanese.
Well, I'm sure someone on a site like Minitokyo probably scanned large versions of them, and by putting the cover image itself to the right and some other background color or little detail to the left, it could make for some nice wallpapers. You can tell I don't know anything about making wallpapers, right? :P
Oh btw, please check out my YouTube channel if you don't mind. I have uploaded there, after finding them on NicoVideo, two videos related to the first Yugioh series. It was really a surprise to find them. They are a PV of Kawaita Sakebi using clips from the episodes, and a live version of this PV with less episode clips and
( ... )
Yeah, apparently, they all use assistants (except for CLAMP, I think).
I haven't tried my hand @ translating in more than 20 months. I'm too rusty to help, not that I was ever that good to being with. T___T Sorry, but glad to see Himistu has found more people to help!
I'm actually surprised I haven't seen more wallpapers of the bunkoban. The images are beautiful. But I think most of the fandom that was around in the original series has faded away.
Cool! I'll check them out when I get home on Saturday! Thanks!
I'm not that good either, but I manage with the occasional help of AltaVista's Babelfish and the NJStar Japanese WP program. Well, let me know if you get back into it and might be able to help. Especially with some of the more specific terms.
The large version, yes, and I've gone through many of the wallpaper pages (but not all) but I haven't yet seen an actual wallpaper of a bunkouban's cover. If you're good at them though, try making one and let me know how it works out. Frankly, the group pic of Yuugi and friends on one of the covers is the nicest imo. I like cute casual group pics like that. Even for series like Dragon Ball, I had quite a time of finding a nice scroll with a group pic where they weren't fighting and that had all of the main characters. I try to buy scrolls for every series I like, at least one, if I can find some.
I'm not sure I was ever that good either. But it'll be at least another year before I do any more translating. Need to finish school (12 months) and pass my boards first. It's been taking all my energy.
I'm not really a wallpaper maker either. I've still got the standard Vista BG. XD
Ah, I've only heard bad things about Vista, I'm not even close to trying it. Besides that, I believe my brother's laptop had it and it seemed very user unfriendly.
I'm under the impression they were made by Field of View as real videos. Or rather, that the one that isn't the live version was, since the live version is obviously theirs.
Btw, do you have any idea why the first few episodes used a slightly different version of Kawaita Sakebi? I mean, if you watch the opening of episode 1 and the opening of episode 27, they sound ever slightly different. Just the way the lyrics are sung. I know that the same has been done in some other series too, any idea why?
