Which one? Not the fine line - it is a bit loud and full of chavs and far too expensive. Seriously, the Belle Vue is much nicer.

Poor Sydney! Poor Jack! Nadia seems to have improved her bargain, though. I'm not sure I buy Irina as a Party-line Soviet -- at least, not after Nadia's birth -- but otherwise, I find this all entirely plausible.

I'm glad you liked it.

Well, I don't think that she's consciously party-line, but there's some things that are just ingrained and take a while to stop being completely natural, especially the mundane things you never think about. Someone who grew up with the party-line, as Irina did, I think, would have different version of gut-reflex than someone who grew up during/pre-Bolshevism.

My parents, for instance, still did things 'model' Communist citizens did, even when they weren't... and they were never exactly 'model', anyway.

I was initially going to make them both happy, then realised that it was Alias. No one's ever happy. :)

The last line hurts, in a good way. And I can see that scenario, oh yes I can.

Thanks hon'.

I initially had Jack and Irina and wee Sydney in a car in the middle of Siberia, but then could not, for the life of me, see Irina bringing Jack across... or him coming across, for that matter. so ending jack was pretty much the only way i could see sydney ever ending up being raised by her mother (such as it was).

Oh, this is wonderful. I love the detail, the sense of loss, and Sydney's sadness. Great job.
