I appeal to the Americans on my flist to tell me that this is not the case. Please, God. We've just been told that there's another security alert at Edgware Road, and I'm frankly less worried about that. I don't care whether the US requires Brits to get a visa to come over - I just won't bother coming over - but wasn't this exactly the same ( Read more... )

i'm wondering if it's the british press scare-mongering. normally i'd take it all with a pinch of salt, but the guardian is so respectable... *dithers*

I think that's a pretty dramatic overstatement/misreading of the American coverage. I've read reports that touched on some of this stuff, but only glancingly; it's definitely not an accurate representation of the overall tone of American news reports.

Thank God. It really threw me, as The Guardian is so respectable and ordinarily so reliable... *sigh* I don't know.
