Holmes's violin

Apr 08, 2013 00:15

Have JUST started watching Elementary. End of Episode 2, you can imagine my surprise when I heard Sherlock start in on the Chaconne (the fifth movement of Partita in D minor for solo violin), as I wrote about him playing this particular piece three years ago, in Partita. This is a fairly unusual piece. It's Holmes picking up his violin after a long absence, and launching into a movement that only a very few accomplished violinists can play effectively. Wiki helpfully calls it to 'pinnacle' of the solo violin repertoire.

PS I am really enjoying Elementary.
