The
Yuletide authors have been revealed, whee!! I wrote 8 fics this year (overly excitable, I know), but I blame the folks over at #yuletide irc, who were so bloody encouraging it was difficult to stop. Anyway:
Yuletide fic

Sold Under Sin, Transmetropolitan
My assignment; written for numinicious. Spider rants about the economy, at some length. I hand-wrote the first draft of this on the train up to Edinburgh a few weeks ago, and spent a ridiculous amount of time poking it. And then three days agonising over the title. Sometimes it's the silliest things...
-
Apocrypha, Carnivale
Pinch-hit for thedeadparrot. Sofie and Ben and Apollonia, S1. There was a bit of a mad scramble on this one, as I am much more familiar with the California side of things than the Carnivale side, so a frantic rewatching of source took place.
-
Nor the Battle to the Strong, Gone With the Wind
Yuletide Treat for Maidenjedi. The Tarletons go to war. As the film has about 3 seconds of the Tarletons, I shamelessly plundered the book for source instead. (
100fandoms #93, can.)
-
Fable, Fairy tales (trad)
Yuletide Treat for WhiteCat. A riff on Liz Lochhead's
Men Talk, which is one of my favourite poems. I started using it as source for something else entirely, but this sorta fell out almost by accident. (
100fandoms #95, crowd)
-
The Fair Gals of Dakota, Deadwood
Yuletide Treat for Suburban Noir. One of the things I love about
yuletide is that I can try new things. And this is - God help me - a barn dance, telling the tale of Alice Isringhausen.
-
Civility, Deadwood
Yuletide Treat for Sweeney Agonistes. A drabble wherein Al Swearengen makes an effort, set early S2.
-
Contre-jour, Kim Stanley Robinson - Mars Trilogy
Yuletide Treat for Ellen Fremedon. Sax pays a visit to the Antarctica training grounds post-Blue Mars. (
100fandoms #25, salt)
-
Seven Days, Bible - Hebrew Bible or Old Testament
Yuletide Treat for kastaka. Miriam spends seven days outside.

I'm up to 75/100 for my
100fandoms claim. This makes me ridiculously happy.

I read
52 books in 2008, 2 of which were re-reads. No reviews for them, though, as I slacked off this year. I have a million books mid-way through, so when I do the same thing this year - and try to get through another 50 - I'm gonna make more of an effort to comment on them.
***
NYR and book lists for 2009 to follow. At the moment, I have a lovely clean house, tomorrow off from work, and I owe people lotsa fic. So - cafe, notebook, pen. Yes.
