I really hate fandom, sometimes.

Dear fandom (you know who you are),

PLEASE DO NOT STOMP YOUR WORLDVIEW ALL OVER ME.

I appreciate that people may not agree with my perspective. I appreciate that others may agree with it, but not agree that moving from LJ is the best move forward. HOWEVER. There is a significant number in fandom that seem to be using this as an excuse to be fuckwits of the highest order.

I am astonished at the number of people that assume that US law is applied worldwide, and that the US is somehow a paragon of morality. The next person who implies that there is something wrong with two sixteen year old boys having sex - something which is COMPLETELY LEGAL in the UK, thank you - will get hit with something solid. A lower age of consent in another country does not mean that said country is full of paedophiles. It means that they believe that the people living there are emotionally mature enough to choose for themselves at a younger age. CHOOSE FOR THEMSELVES, PEOPLE. I am sick and tired of 'lower age of consent' being used an euphomism for child abuse by people call themselves morally superior and then go off to wank off over pictures of a sixteen-year-old Lindsey Lohan or Britney Spears.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

"These laws are moral because they are ours, ergo everyone else is a paedophile." And people wonder why I'm so fucking pissed off??

No love whatsofuckingever,

Me.
