Publishing question
Exam went - well, it went fairly, whether it went well remains to be seen. Three more to go.
A publishing question, for those in the know -
I was very interested in a couple of the pieces of work I did for my MSc, and was pleased when they received high marks. According to the criteria used for marking, this is supposed to indicate that they're of a publishable standard. Now, I don't think that they are (yet, anyway) and I think that I can greatly improve upon them. I would like to turn them into something significant, but I am a little fuzzy on just where the university stands in regards to my work. Do they own the copyright? I distinctly recall a problem with this when I was transcribing manuscripts for a professor a few years ago, and she wanted to include them & their introduction as part of an anthology - apparently, stundets' work belongs to the university, not the student himself. Is this complete nonsense, or is it true? And, more importantly, where can I find out the rules that relate to my specific institution?
(Incidentally, I've just sent an email to my dissertation supervisor, with whom I got on famously. I hope to actually get her input on this, 'cause, well, we got on famously. Plus, she's fab. Yes.)
