Daniel's old room is exactly how he left it. Not even a layer of dust to mark his absence. The solarium is almost the same, with the exception of one or two books towards a corner. Sebastian's house in and of itself hasn't changed much either, except that Merry no longer lives there. Even so, she and the rest of the girls are over often enough that it doesn't seem to matter to the energy of the house.

There's still leftovers for Thanksgiving, the one conventional American holiday that the family celebrates. Sebastian made his usual British grumbles, to which Merry made her usual reply that setting aside a day to be thankful for what you have isn't a bad idea no matter where it comes from. The day after Thanksgiving there's still plenty of leftovers: turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and three kinds of pie. As always, the default response to personal crisis in the Kane household (when it doesn't involve magic) seems to be to bake things.

Laurel stops by briefly the next day while Daniel's asleep, but doesn't stay long. The wedding ring on her finger burns with the reminder that she and his father have achieved the happy ending that ... she pushes the thought out of her mind. Hugs Merry, hugs Sebastian, questions after Daniel's well-being and leaves as quietly as she arrived.

Amber visits, too, but confines herself to the garden and her threats against Soren's life to quiet mutterings.
