Isomers

Ever notice how there seem to be more filk bands than members of filk bands? They rearrange themselves into different identities, like the Tines in the Verner Vinge book I'm currently reading (and its prequel), only that isn't quite the right metaphor,
since Tine packs tend to form stable identities and not swap members readily, and they don't always rename themselves each time they add or lose a member, something like The Three Weird Sisters, all four of whom are guests next month at Consonance.   The two entities known as Margaret & Kristoph and Vixy & Tony come to mind; both play as subsets of multiple bands. Two filk bands can even have similar or identical sets of members and be distinguished only by who plays what, or by musical style. I'd almost swear Kitten Sundae is some other band with Vixy wearing a funny hat. At Conflikt 5, there was a quartet I'm sure I've seen on stage together in a different guise, that probably has its own name, something like "Mostly Sunnie with a Chance of Cellos and Increasing Drums and Guitar".

It was then that a metaphor struck me: I never took Organic Chemistry, but they remind me of isomers. Same lineup, different arrangements, completely different properties.
