A Very Delicately-Spoilerish Question

Jun 26, 2011 11:27

Okay, I downloaded the new season of Doctor Who.  With a huge sci-fi convention coming up here on Thursday, there's no way I was going to go into it without being caught up.  Odds are there would be discussion of the new season in at least one of the panels I would be attending.

I have watched the first two episodes (The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon) and I have something I'm trying to straighten out in my head.  Here's the kicker, though: If it's a question that's already been answered by this point (ie, it was answered last season or in these two episodes, but I forgot it) please, by all means someone tell me so I don't have to keep obsessing about it!  But if it hasn't been answered, or will be answered in one of the later episodes that I haven't watched yet, just say so and I'll be content.  I just want to make sure I'm not overanalyzing a plot point that doesn't need overanalyzing:

Okay....  so....  Rory.  He was a human who was Amy's fiance who was killed right before he got sucked into the crack, and became someone who never existed.  Then he was a Roman Centurian Auton who thought he was Rory, suddenly made Amy remember who Rory was, and protected her for 2000 years inside the Pandorica.

Now, he's Amy's husband in a world that's been healed.  But is he the original human Rory or the Auton Rory?  On one hand, the explosion of the TARDIS was stopped, reality came back to reality, and Amy's parents exist again, so, theoretically, Rory should, too, and the one that Amy married is the human.  But on the other hand, Rory can still remember his time as a Roman Centurian Auton, even though it was never HIM.  Additionally, he had been killed by the Silurian right before he was sucked into the crack, so he should be dead in this reality, anyway.  But if that's the case, why doesn't Amy consider this Rory as simply a "replacement"?  Is Companion Rory a human, or an immortal plastic robot with a gun hand?

Mostly, with a little girl running around that is/isn't the product of Amy's positive/negative pregnancy, is Rory eliminated right away as the father?   If he's an Auton, then that makes him just a living mannequin, unless there's little plastic Auton sperm swimming around inside him.

So...  has it been answered before Day of the Moon?  If so, tell me what i missed.  Has it been answered before A Good Man Goes to War?  If so, just say that and don't tell me any more cuz, you know, "Spoilers..."

If it hasn't been answered yet this season, or is just being told off as sloppy scriptwriting, let me know so I can know I'm allowed to speculate in peace......
