I'm pretty proud of all of the money that I HAVEN'T spent this summer compared to what I was going to do initially.
- Only six Transformers from the new line so far, and half of those were under $10.
- I shelled out $60 for a Japanese exclusive TF set, too, but it would have cost me as much if they ever released them here in the states.
And they're awesome.
- Two movies, Wolverine and Star Trek. Granted, Star Trek twice, but still... I haven't shelled out for Terminator, Up or Drag Me to Hell like I was planning.
- Talked myself out of Punch Out and the Ghostbusters, HBP, and Transformers 2 games. For now...
I suppose those were counteracted slightly by dirt-cheap HIMYM at Best Buy this week, but if season one doesn't grab me I can still return 2 and 3.
So so far money's good this summer. However, I'm staring down the barrel now:
- TF2 and HBP. Duh. I'll be seeing them each at least twice. Possibly IMAX.
BTW, I'm amused at the battle that suddenly started between my two biggest fandoms regarding this non-issue of HBP losing two weeks of IMAX screentime because TF2 signed an exclusive contract before WB made the release date shift.
I wonder if Potter fans realize that this is only going to help the movie's box office totals. Everyone who was planning to see it IMAX in the first two weeks will be seeing it in a regular theatre instead, then going to see it in IMAX right when it'd be ready to drop off of the top five.
It might be enough to get it to beat Transformers in total receipts this summer. Maybe. No way either of them are being Star Trek, though...
Anyway,
- I'm also having a hard time talking myself out of Public Enemies and Inglourious Basterds.
-
Leader Class Jetfire and
Human Alliance Mikaela/Skids/Arcee, a large Transformer with a GI Joe-sized Megan Fox that can fit inside it and a smaller transforming motorcycle that she can ride. Hot damn.
- Gently mocking me down at the other end of the calendar my pre-ordered
Arkham Asylum in August andpre-orders for
Beatles Rock Band in September and
BioShock 2 in October.
I might be able to talk myself out of the Beatles if it's discovered that While My Guitar Gently Weeps doesn't make the final soundtrack. It's my favorite Beatles song,
as my readers might recall. But BioShock? No way I'm going to be able to resist that.
Biggest of all, there's a plan vaguely forming to head to Chicago in mid-August for the Potter display at the Museum of Science & Industry, with a possible White Sox, Cubs, or Brewers game tossed into the mix. That'll be hotel and gas or hotel, plane ticket, and possibly car rental for a few days.
Wheeee, money. Byebye.
