Two and a half hours...

I'm heading out of here at 9:30 for the party.

Just finished reading HBP one more time.

Gonna do a little iPod cleaning, keep myself away from any spoiler attacks.

But before we go:

Prediction #7:  Bill & Fleur's wedding won't play a major role in the story.

Once again, I'm going back to the movies for this one.  Bill's never been seen outside of a single photo in the Daily Prophet.  Fleur's role in the GoF movie was cut down to barely a speaking role, more of a damsel in distress-type role.

Rowling's had some say in what should and shouldn't leave the movie.  Kreacher had a minor role in OotP simply because Rowling said he plays a role in TDH.  She didn't say the same about Dobby.  And she didn't say the same about Bill (who appears in a scene in GoF during the Triwizard) or Fleur.  There has been no mention yet of an attempt to cast a Bill Weasley, and the IMDb listing for Clemence Poesy does not even have her attached to the Half-Blood Prince film.

Basically, it feels like that the Bill/Fleur relationship is going to be cut from the Half-Blood Prince movie.  And if that's the case, one of two things is going to have to happen in the Deathly Hallows film:

1) The wedding will be cut completely

2) It'll be changed to the Lupin/Tonks wedding

I'm leaning toward option 1.  The wedding will be there for character development.  Harry's last go-around with Ginny before he leaves.  Ron and Hermione deciding if they are or aren't together.  The trio's last goodbye to many characters before the final battle.  And probably the last touch at some humor before things get dark.  Nothing that will be needed in a two- to three-hour adaptation in the summer of 2010.

But that will be it.  Nothing will happen plot-wise, or else Rowling would have asked David Yates to cast a Bill Weasley for Order of the Phoenix.  Bill will be cut from Half-Blood Prince.  Fleur will be cut.  Bill's werewolfness will be cut, and the script will find some other way to get Tonks and Lupin together, if it even happens at all.

Because they won't be needed for Deathly Hallows.

Everyone have fun at the party tonight!  I'll probably pop on here once or twice over the weekend to let loose some cut-IDed squee.

In the meantime...

GAH!!!
