Because I'm Bored
Anyone ever go to rottentomatoes.com? It's a site that collects the reviews of upcoming movies from maybe a hundred different newspapers and websites, and brings them all together into one percentage.
The reason I ask is because, has there ever been a time where so many bad movies are out and popular at the same time?
Take, for example, last weekend's top five box office, along with their Rotten Tomatoes rating:
14% The Messengers
$14.7M
07% Because I Said So
$13.1M
03% Epic Movie
$8.4M
45% Night at the Museum
$6.4M
27% Smokin' Aces
$6.1M
Add to that the movies being released this weekend:
19% Hannibal Rising
10% Norbit
91% The Lives of Others
29% Burning Annie
17% The Last Sin Eater
With the exception of The Lives of Others, that's pretty much a big steaming pile of crap, isn't it?
The summer can't come fast enough. Hell, March can't come fast enough. At least we have TMNT, 300, and Aqua Teen to look forward to.
