On Friday at 9:15am, 2 cleaning ladies arrived at the house. We were supposed to get someone in on Wednesday, but she got sick and cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday. We ended up with 2 women on Friday. The only good thing with that was I was able to finish packing my stuff in the basement and drag it across the floor. There were also almost a dozen boxes of Andrew's video game stuff, that was also brought upstairs to put into the garage. Now it was a pretty empty basement. The women were there until 1:45, but wouldn't touch the stove as they apparently couldn't figure out how to get all the grease off it. I ended up going on the internet and discovered that baking soda is a good absorber of grease and tried using that. It worked pretty well actually. I managed to get it mostly picture ready, and then I vacuumed the basement and threw our extra packing boxes into cold storage just to be out of the way for when the photographer arrived.
The photographer, our realtor and Andrew all arrived around 3:45. Argh, so much for having an extra 15 minutes to check things over. The photographer still had us move some things out of the way. I was kind of disappointed that the Coke soap dish and cup didn't get to stay in the bathroom. The Coke towel I brought out for this, the bathmat and shower curtain didn't make it in the shot either. Maybe because of the mirror, or I don't know why. Needless to say, the photographer noticed our collections and commented on it. Yup, lots of stuff. Anyway, once he was done, we talked to our realtor and signed the paperwork to go ahead and put up the house for sale. We gave him one of our house keys for the lockbox. He put up the sign out front and then it was all official. The day was exhausting... for me anyway.
We went out for our anniversary dinner at Enzo's where we both had Smirnoff coolers, shared a bruschetta and then I had ravioli, while he had veal cacciatore. Too full for dessert, but it was a good meal. We had planned on seeing Wonder Woman, but I was too wiped from dealing with people and being nice all day. We got home and watched some stuff.
Saturday, was our anniversary and Andrew got me this sweet Snoopy backgammon set. I felt bad for only have gotten him some special edition M&Ms for Canada Day. Given all the packing we were doing, I didn't want it to be something big. Oh well. We went to a 12:55pm showing of Wonder Woman which was a good movie, sad for Chris Pine though. We had hot dogs beforehand, and I got a small popcorn for during the movie. I think the girls sitting next to me either didn't realize it was a 3D movie, or just forgot to get the glasses, because they got up when it started. It wasn't really a great 3D movie. I could've seen it regular. After the movie we drove to a parking lot near Davisville station, and then waited for Christina before proceeding to Union station by subway. We tried twice to get an Uber, but ended up cancelling them for taking too long and took a taxi. Then some woman smacked our cab and begging us to take her and some guy as far as Queen's Quay so they didn't miss their boat. I wasn't going to let her in, but the cab driver unlocked the doors so she barged in. I was miffed. The guy sat on her lap. She said she would give us ten bucks. I think we moved 2 blocks (traffic was stop and go) before she decided it might be faster to walk the rest. Argh. We we almost at the street we wanted so we decided to get out too. She got out, and I was going to follow, but then she slammed the door on my ankle and I screamed bloody murder. I, surprisingly, was able to stand on it. Anyway, the couple took off and never paid anything for the ride. I don't know if it was because I screamed that she ran away, or because we were getting off anyway that she decided not to pay. Either way, it was rude. We got out and started walking to HTO park. I was happy that it had stopped raining while we were on the subway so we could go check out the giant duck. There was a smaller version of the duck that you could take pictures with, but there was a line up. A line up for most everything actually. We managed to get a few pics in, and then worked our way out of the crowd. Christina wanted to get some timbits, so she and Andrew went in and waited forever in line to get them. I did not want to be squished further so I stayed on the outside. One more stop to Rabba's for some bacon and then we went to Andrew Raynr's party. It was 7:45. We got there, and Raynr was going to head to the roof, so we went with him to hang out and take pics. We came back in and hung out for a couple of hours before it was time for the fireworks. His building is near the CN Tower, but only a certain number of people were allowed on the roof, so we went to the 5th floor patio which was just as good. It was short though, only 7 minutes. Fortunately there was a second set somewhere else nearby, but unfortunately, there was a hotel building blocking most of the view. That one lasted 10 minutes and had more variety and colours. It was all pretty cool. I was happy to have gotten to chat with Leisa and Ken, and when I went back inside, I was pleasantly surprised to see Declan, Sarah and Sar'DEC. There was cake with sparklers and we sung "Happy Birthday" to Raynr, and then the smoke detector went off. LOL Oops. We left sometime after midnight, and walked to Union station this time. I used by Presto card and then the turnstile wouldn't let me through and then it wouldn't let me use my card anymore. Fortunately, Andrew had a second card and let me use that. Like seriously, what have I done to deserve all this grief?
Sunday, we wanted to go to Troy's Diner, but when we got there it said it closed at 1pm. We found this place called Luigi's which wasn't too far and both had the spaghetti bolognese, and split a delicious tiramisu cheesecake. The place was empty except for the 2 employees. Then we went to buy groceries at Longo's, bought some bulbs at Rona's and came home. I started to enter the code and the first 2 numbers beeped and then it died. WHAT? I tried again, no beeps. I checked my jacket for keys, and I didn't have them. I started to ask Andrew for his, and then remembered he gave it to our realtor. Argh! So now what? So screwed. We call our realtor in hoped of giving back our key or the code to the lockbox to get our key, but no reply. It's after 5pm. We sit in front of the house in hopes that trying every now and then it'll start working again. It doesn't. Even though we're in the shade, Andrew finds it too hot to be standing outside. So we get in the car and start driving. Then he has a memory of a time when the lock was overheated and didn't work. So great, we have to wait until the weather cools off before we get back in? Not too long after he remembers that he can use his phone to unlock the door, so we drive back home to try it. He finds the app. and it works! YAY! Our groceries aren't going to spoil! I bring out my key and put it on the table as a reminder to make a copy which in retrospect is kinda dumb since I'm the one that's always home to let him in if he needs to get in. I'm the only one who needs to always carry it which I do when Andrew isn't around. Anyway, a few hours later, Andrew made steaks (using some angus steak spice) and corn-on-the-cob for supper. Watched some stuff before going to bed.
Monday, Andrew spent most of the afternoon sorting out the tool room, dividing things like cables & wires, to electronics, to power bars/extension cords and holiday decorations. I was cleaning off the vent hood, and some light switch plates and doors. I was also checking out if there were any good places to live. The realtor.ca site has gotten annoying the last couple of weeks. I used to be able to go back and forth between clicking on a picture of the house and then back to the list, but the list doesn't stay the same. Next thing I know, I'm looking at all of Toronto, or only a small part of Mississauga. Now I have to have 2 windows open, one to keep the list, and one to check out the houses. Much more time consuming since I have to enter the address or MLS code for anything I want to check more closely. Caught up on a bunch of shows which is good.
