One point to also consider is that when the game is re-released, it's not going to be on Steam. It'll be on some other site, mentioned in the article you linked. I don't know if that freeware site requires signup to download anything however since the site itself requires you to enable javascript, and probably cookies

Gamejolt, huh? Looks like one of those crappy aggregator sites like Kongregate or Newgrounds or whatever. Okay then, never mind, I guess I'll never be playing this game, even for free.
And yeah, I agree that Steam definitely needs to fix this shit. It's an obvious loophole/exploitation that unscrupulous devs use to get around bad reviews on their shitty games.
