"Sony 'reengineering' The Last Guardian"

"Sony is 'reengineering' long-awaited PlayStation game The Last Guardian, Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida told GamesIndustry International in a new interview.

"It is not clear what this means for the project."

It means that it has most likely bumped up to being a PS4 game and will no longer be released on the PS3. There have been rumors that this will be the case for months now, and this only fuels those rumors.

"Asked what platform The Last Guardian would be released for, Yoshida said, 'That I cannot talk about.'"

Yeah, it has totally been moved up to the PS4.

I'll just say it again: while I may have bought a PS3 (mostly) in anticipation of the Last Guardian, I will not be buying a PS4 (just) for the Last Guardian. At this point, it's highly questionable as to whether I'll be getting a PS4 at all, at least not any time even remotely soon. If the game still comes out for PS3 then yeah, I'll still get it, but that's looking more and more unlikely, so it might be time for me to finally write this game off as a lost cause.

This all assumes that the game will still ever be released at all, of course. Honestly, at this point, I'd just about prefer that they just straight up cancel it than to keep stringing everyone along.

ps3, ps4, games
