A couple days ago on Facebook, I
posted a link to the following video:

Since then, this story has made it as far as the TODAY show:
I still think this guy is a pretty horrible human being, especially given how unrepentant he was in the clips shown of him being asked about it. I think he should be serving time for this. Unfortunately, however, the TODAY video points out that it has already been 2 years past the statute of limitations for this sort of thing, therefore there will likely be no charges filed against the guy. Well, it's not the happiest ending, but there's still the chance he will lose his job as a judge. I can see why his daughter might be a bit hesitant to say on national television that she wants that to happen, but I have absolutely no such reservations against saying it. This guy shouldn't be a judge anymore, especially in matters concerning juveniles.
(EDIT)
So, out of morbid curiosity, I decided to take a look at the comments on that TODAY show video, but before starting I made a little bet with myself. And I won! I bet that I would see some inane comment within the first 10 comments. And sure enough, the very first comment (thankfully already "collapsed by the community" so I had to actively make it visible to read it) was this: "Give me a BREAK!!!!!!!!!! He was not BEATING her, and it was not a whip, it was a belt. Seriously, why do people take it so out of context. A parent has a right to spank their child. I would not personally spank my 16 year old, but losing his job because of disciplining his daughter? RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Bonus points for there being another, even more asinine comment in the same sub-thread just six comments after that first one, which made use of the tired old "God says spare the rod spoil the child" platitude, and which also mentioned Sharia law (completely apropos of nothing at all, of course), and also said that the daughter is "evil" for "setting him up," all in the same retarded comment. That was as far as I got, because I just couldn't take the display of abject stupidity anymore.
