Stepping on board with AJ one more time (that crazy kid), I am now in the core team putting together the first female rowing team to row across the Atlantic!
"Anne Miltenberger, Kelly Nothstein, Erika Kercher,
Ashley Thrasher, and Ashlee M Lytle plan on making history when they lineup for the Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race 2009, becoming the only American Women's Fours team ever to row across the Atlantic "
The video on the site is exciting as all get out too :-D
It just sounds crazy.
You are aboard an insignificant speck on the vast Atlantic Ocean, battered by the fiercest elements, just trying not to go backward. You inch forward, on human power, only when nature allows. You are alone against an unpredictable and seemingly vindictive force. Any re-supply, any help, will disqualify you. Giant ships can’t see you. And there is no one to rescue you.
Crazy.
The Race: La Gomera to Antigua in the Caribbean
Distance: 2,500 Nautical Miles +
Time of Year: December - February
Number of People: 4
So, the girls head out in December. We will be there in Spain to see them off.
Check out the site, spread the word.
This is kind of cool :-)
