Awards Season has OFFICIALLY begun

Dec 03, 2009 23:00

sooo today is pretty amazing.

the first person tweeting about being at Alec's Timestalk has occured and so thats got me all excited

But knew i must LJed about the National Board of Review Award Winners that got announced today :)

As little as these awards actually mean, they are the first and it IS interesting to see.

The ones i wish to discuss are as follows..

Best Supporting Actor: Woody Harrelson, The Messenger
WHAT IS THIS ABOUT? i hadn't even seen him ON the rador.. urm Stanley Tucci, Alfred Molina, Christoph Waltz are SET in this catergory.. this will not last.

Best Supporting Actress: Anna Kendrick, Up In The Air
urm i thought this was Mo'Niques or a Nine lady but alas the NBR seemed to love up in the air and snub precious in film sooo i get it.
they did however do

Breakthrough Performance by an Actress: Gabourey Sidibe, Precious
sooo i guess precious got their shoutout, and sidibe will love that, but i really thought Carey would win this award and not....

Best Actress: Carey Mulligan, An Education
This means Meryl didn't win this one, and she was definetly the top favourite hear, i read half a dozen predictions for the nbrs and they all had Meryl here sooo is that worrying for her chance with julie & julia.. especially when...

duh duh duh

Best Ensemble Cast: It’s Complicated (FYI Doubt won this last year)
Just LOL, i thought this was Nines for the taking this year but apparently not so thats awesome for It's Complicated coz we want this movie to do amazingly well box office & awards wise and its even better for Alec and a possible Globe nomination that could lead to the Oscars but maybe not so good for Meryl in terms of Oscar 3

Meryl for Oscar number 3... my thoughts.
i really only believe she can actually WIN the oscar for Julie & Julia, yes she could easily get with the campaign for It's Complicated (hello shes Meryl Streep who can get nominated for anything) but i couldn't see them giving her the win for that even with the whole "Meryl is overdue" thing.
And i personally would NOT want her to win for supporting, Better to wait another year than them think they are giving her an oscar after 27years of brilliance and it be supporting. NO thank you. So please awards people, Julia Child is NOT a supporting role, they are not campaigning it that way and even tho you may love It's Complicated (which is great) do not do anything funny. Just give her the double nomination at the Golden Globes (i mean really there is no competition in comedy/musical lead) and then go on to a lead oscar nomination in Julie & Julia.
SO hence why the love for It's Complicated worries me, i really want Meryl to actually WIN the oscar.
and all the people that are saying she probably will coz there is no competition, that is a lie, otherwise half the people would not have Carey on half the peoples predictions for the win okay?
Golden Globes - Meryl wins Comedy/musical, Carey wins Drama
Baftas - Carey wins coz she is BRITISH and they will be awarding an education lots.
Sags - I would say Meryl as other Actors LOVE her but they awarded her this last year.. two years in a row doesn't happen much? BUT it was one of the most memerable runs to the stage & speeches so will they want to see that happy again. i think if Carey gives good emotional & modest award speeches, this could help her chances
Oscars - they could be on an equal playing field as far as the precurses go (and always these could go non meryl OR carey) so it will be fansinating.

CAN YOU TELL HOW MUCH I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE DRAMA OF AWARDS SEASON.

the golden globe nominations will tell us a lot a lot of what we need to find out in terms of reaction. EXCITED.

oh AND where are Alec & Meryl going to sit at these awards?? they could/will both be double nominated for both their roles..and especially if It's Complicated gets nominated itself in film/screen writing... i personally think Meryl should just join Alec at 30 Rock table (coz its not like julie & julia is gonna get other acting) hmmm.. interesting.

ahhh i can't wait.
