I know I can write. I've had a lot of people tell me they've enjoyed my writing, so I know at least that I'm a decent storyteller. Recently, though, I've finally started to get some genuine objective feedback. In the most gratifying manner, the feedback has been positive that I'm really starting to feel the love. It's a great feeling to see that others are enjoying reading my stories, almost as much as much as I enjoy writing them!
What brought this on? Recently, there was a contest over at SoFurry. It was to write a story specifically including at least one of the three most endangered species on the planet, specifically a giant panda, a tiger, and/or a rhino. Hmm. Not really my normal fare, but rather tame on its own, so I had to spice it up. I wrote a sci-fi space encounter, playing on the irony of the three most endangered species now being the sole survivors of a now-deceased Earth.
Clearly,
they enjoyed it as well. For those of you who may be too lazy to click, I won! Even better, I garnered perfect scores from all three judges. If your interested in reading,
you can read it on SoFurry. This does require an account to be created, but if you had an account over on Yiffstar before it moved to the new domain, that account should still work.
I'll end this little bit of boasting with just a thanks to the friends that've helped me improve my writing. <3
