It's those phone calls that come in late at night that you never want to get...we just found out that Jake's Grandpa passed away. As Jake just said, "I have no more Grandpa's". His brother and then his Dad called. We don't know a lot yet, but we know his cousin tried calling Grandpa today, and then when she didn't get an answer all day she went to his house after work. He was in his chair, so it's possible he passed in his sleep, or at least he went peacefully. He just had his 86th birthday last July, and although he was having some heart problems around Christmas time, I just never expected this. He was the type of man to be so stubborn he would outlive us all.
Grandpa Fackrell was my mother in-laws father and he was a very central part of their family. Jake's Dad says she is ok and dealing with it for now. I think we are all upset, but we know that he is in a better place and is with Jake's Grandma.
If anything, as the new year starts, please, please remember your loved ones. You never know if they will leave us suddenly without the chance to say what we want to. Let them know how much you love them, and tell them how much they mean to you.
