Television

Do you know there is absolutely nothing on television these days. Here I am all alone during the day recovering from my surgery and there is nothing on television worth watching. The last few days all I see on ET is John Ritter Remembered. Yes, the world lost a great comedic actor (he was one of my favorites), but we also lost Johnny Cash on the same day. I don't see ET doing an hour long Johnny Cash remembered. What gives? Who deems which is more valued to the public? Yes Johnny Cash would only appeal to a particular segment of the populus, but he was a legend. I guess because ET is television and not music this specifies who they cover, actors over musicians. Oh well. To each his own I guess.

This summer has been the summer of reality TV. Every time you turned on the television this summer, there was another reality show - America's Next Top Model (haven't heard a word on Adrienne since), Big Brother 4 (down to final 3), Who Wants to Marry My Dad (are Americans that desperate? what was wrong with this man - he needed his 4 kids to hand pick his woman?), Race To The Altar, For Love or Money, The Restaurant, The Family, and my personal favorite next to Survivor, The Amazing Race. I'm sure I missed some shows, oh yes....missed American Juniors and Simon Cowell's new show - Cupid. Give me a break people. How many of the contestants on Big Brother had agents/managers before they entered the house? I've got some reality for them - let them come to Newfoundland and pit their survival skills in our interior in the winter. Now that's survival in it's purest form.

Saw Jeff Probst on Regis and Kelly last Thursday - seems the new survivor is going to start with a twist. This should be interesting. Seems the contestants did some publicity events while on board the boat when Jeff drops his little bombshell - they are going to begin the game with only the clothes on their backs - should make for interesting television this week since some of the men are in suits and some of the women are in sun dresses (some with nothing under them according to Jeff) and high heels. Those heels should make the competitions very interesting. Also according to Jeff, there is a major lie and a major regret during this seventh installment of Survivor. Isn't the whole game one big lie anyway? I mean, come on, no one can trust any one else on these things because the name of the game is "be the one who can outlast and outlie all the other retards". That's the way to get rid of the other suckers so that you are the only one left standing. Do these people get to see what they portray to the public? I'd be embarrassed (hell, I am embarrassed for most of them) to see some one I know acting the fool, not to mention emitting a funky smell after all those days with out proper hygiene. Whoowee! Guess they burn them clothes when they get home, huh?

The new fall lineup begins next week (some shows have already started) but I'm more interested in CSI and CSI Miami. Hubby and I really enjoy those shows each week. I don't watch a whole lot of TV any more, but those 2 I watch religiously. Without A Trace is another decent show, and I'll reserve judgement on the new Navy CIS. They are piggybacking of another established hit, JAG, in that the first episode (at least on the promos) they go after Cmdr. Rabb for murder. Now for me, that's already one strike against the show. You don't go after my fellow Canadian like that!!! Anyway, I look forward to viewing the networks offerings to see just who will win my choice.
