It had been decided that Rika and her two friends Yumi, and Ritsuko would celebrate their birthdays together. They were all pretty close together and it just made it easier to get the party over with all in one sitting. Tonight was Rika's birthday dinner, and Ryo planned on attending. He had chosen his outfit to coordinate right down to the shoelaces. Time wasn't a concern of his because he didn't care if he did show up late.

The only thing he had left to do was pick up Rika's present. The more he thought about it, the more it seemed impossible. How could he possibly ask Kazuya for that? And to just seek him out and beg for it? He bit his lip. He should have thought about this in more detail and gave himself more time.

He would have to wait to ask Kazuya. He would just have to give Rika her present a little late. So what, she'll understand. Ryo grabbed his jacket and was about to head out when he saw his old suit in his closet. He told himself to keep walking but found himself pulling it out. The only time he ever wore the thing was on special holidays like Christmas when even his own mother got dressed up. He figured he could even wear it to his mom's funeral one day.

Ryo arrived at the restaurant dressed in the suit. If he couldn't get Rika's present just yet, he figured he could do something for her instead. He walked over to the table, grabbed a chair and sat down.

Rika looked over in surprise too, she really didn't think Ryo was paying attention when she mentioned the party in passing but here he was. What shocked her the most was the way Ryo had dressed. It was so out of character and Rika felt herself blush, he did clean up nicely. The fact that her secret would have to come out now that he was here didn't bother her. In fact Rika didn't think about it as she just watched Ryo in awe.

Forgetting her sorrows, Ritsuko found herself staring at Ryo in awe. First, he shaves, and now this? She almost couldn't recognize him! "Jo-san, why did you come here?" she asked.

Yumi was even more confused by this statement. Why would Rika hang out with this thug. Seeking the answers Yumi looked directly at Rika while asking her question. "Why the hell would you be here for Rika."

"Well," Rika started with a bit hesitation. It was now or never. "Ryo and I are seeing each other and I didn't think you would mind me inviting him."

"Yeah, I have been for awhile. I thought I mentioned that before." Rika said in embarrasment hoping Ryo wouldn't be offended she hadn't told her friends yet.

Ritsuko was surprised. She never pictured Rika dating someone like Ryo. She had expected Rika to go for someone like Naozumi who was more like her. Ryo was her exact opposite.

They were kinda cute together though.
