Tornados Are Fun

Aug 25, 2007 21:54

Alright, so torandoes aren't really fun, but.... still.

Dad and I were driving into work on Friday and the brakes went out on the van. Him, being the smart man he is, left me at work not even thinking about how I was going to get home (I live a good 45 minutes away from the place I work-- that's a 45 minute DRIVE, not a walk.), and called up and told me to find a ride. So of course, I go to Jessica and ask her to take me home-- since she's next to me, my friend, knows where I live and is most likely to say yes. Of course, she told me yes and we left at 11:30 so I could go home (since the office at work closed early).  Her boyfriend called while she was driving me and she asked me if it was okay if we ate lunch with him first. I told her it was fine by me.

We ended up going to Quiznos and there was a wire in Jessica's sub, so we got the entire meal for free. It was pretty good, despite the wire in her sandwhich. This was when they invited me to go to the movies with them and a group of their friends-- I asked Jessica if that was fine with her, because if we were out late then I didn't want her to drive me home because she'd be too tired. We decided to figure the details out later at Jason's house.

We got to his house around 5 (we took a LONG lunch XD), and then it started POURING outside. Jessica and I played with the kittens for a while. Jason's dad (Dr. Swan, the person who was supposed to be my chiropractor >.>) came in and then we noticed the wind change directions-- the weeds were blowing one direction, the trees the other, and the rain was coming down so hard you couldn't SEE anything. Then the torando sirens in Davison started to go off-- and a frenzy broke loose. Jason's sister and mom were still outside, and Jessica and I were racing around getting the kittens to put them into a box and take then down to the basement-- all 6 of them.

We all got in the basement and then we waited about a half an hour before the storm died down and we went outside. It was soaking went, but the rain had stopped-- but there was a fire in the feild from a downed powerline, and the fence for their horses was down as well. Luckily no one got hurt, though I know the town of Fenton got hit pretty bad and suffered quite a bit of damage. I called my sisters because the tornadoes were heading in their direction and none of them were watching the news to know if they needed to be in the basement or not.

About an hour later, we left for dinner and the movie XD
