Belcoot gives his Geddoe a present, since he's his secret santa.
Belcoot: *wandering around the hallways of the castle, he's looking for his gift recipient, carrying a bottle and a small pouch in either hand*
Geddoe: *has come out of his room if only because it's damn cold in there...he's leaning on the railing of the second level of the manor house, as if waiting to see if anything interesting passes by down below*
Belcoot: *was humming almost absently to himself until he spotted Geddoe -- he straightens a bit, suddenly having more purpose to his stride* Geddoe!
Geddoe: Hm? *glances over his shoulder* Oh, Belcoot. Hello.
Belcoot: Hello. *awkwardly trying to hold both arms behind his back now* How are you doing?
Geddoe: *tilts his head curiously at the sudden strange behavior...wasn't he just carrying something...?* I'm all right. A little chilled, that's why I came in here. What are you up to?
Belcoot: Ah, I was just out and about looking for someone. *pauses, and then grins, realising how silly he looks. He hesitantly holds out the bottle first, looking a bit sheepish* A late 'happy holidays', Geddoe.
Geddoe: Ah? Well...thank you... *takes the bottle and turns it to inspect it* What have we here?
Belcoot: Kanakan wine, one of the finest brewed. I was surprised to find it imported around this region. *for a second, he just watches* Even though I'm not fond of alcohol, I do have some experience with Kanakan brews.
Geddoe: *reads the label at about the same time* Well, so I hear. This is pretty nice, thank you. *smiles sideways* To what do I owe this special treat?
Belcoot: *laughs a little bit* That's just a late Christmas present. *finally holds out the other hand, grasping a small pouch* I'm also your secret santa, strangely enough.
Geddoe: *doubly surprised* Oh? Well. That's...great, actually. I was a little leery of the game once I saw what happened to Sigurd and Roy, but...this is much better than I expected. *he sets the bottle on the floor next to his foot and holds out a hand to accept the pouch*
Belcoot: *passes it to him, looking pretty amused* I received massage oils from my secret santa. I don't know what to do with them... but I'm happy you're relieved, anyway.
Geddoe: Massage oils? Let me guess. Roget.
Belcoot: ... That was quite a good guess. *kind of impressed*
Geddoe: *chuckles* He's been hanging around me a bit, I think I've got him mostly figured out. As long as he wasn't suggesting that he help you use them.
Belcoot: He did a bit of that, until he found out... ah, things. *faint fluster*
Geddoe: What, that you're not interested? At least he backs off, then. Could be worse. *wags a finger* Don't underestimate the gift, though. I think you could make use of it in the bathhouse. For other things... *decides to quit while he's ahead and open the pouch*
Belcoot: O-other things? *still faintly flustering here, though still particularly dense* ... Anyway, your gift -- it's a Kanakan charm of sorts. I don't know if you've seen one before.
Geddoe: *pulls a leather cord out from the pouch, at the end of which is a silver pendant in an abstract design* ...no, I haven't. I haven't actually been to Kanakan, in all my travels. *peers at it in interest* A charm, you say?
Belcoot: Is that so? I was born there. *looks at the pendant itself again* Yes. It's meant to serve as a sign and giver of strength and pride -- not that you need it as much. *chuckles, and then leans against the railing*
Geddoe: Maybe not, but a sign is more than welcome. *sobers slightly* Aside from my rune, I've never really
You'd think, after all the tribes and clans I've befriended or been made part of, but...
Belcoot: *laughs* Some people just never get into that sort of thing, I suppose... but I think these things serve as good reminders of values and ideas that we may treasure.
Geddoe: Indeed, they do. *pulls off one glove in order to fumble with the leather cord and tie it around his neck, though the pendant falls down into the folds of his shirt's lapel almost instantly* Thank you, Belcoot. The meaning isn't lost on me. I'll wear it with pride.
Belcoot: *smiles, glad the older man likes it* I'm happy it's appreciated -- I wasn't sure what else to get a man like you, after all.
Geddoe: Well, the wine definitely goes over well. Can't miss there. *pulls his glove back on to hide his rune* You didn't have to get me something extra. I appreciate it. *reaches to smooth out his collar and feel the pendant beneath* It suits me, so yes, I accept it. Thanks.
Belcoot: Well I was going to get you a present either way, so it didn't hurt to add this. *and then quickly* My aplogies for it being so late, though.
Geddoe: Oh, no, it's all right. Don't worry about it. I, uh... *shrugs stiffly* I don't really celebrate holidays much so I didn't get anybody anything. But I've been treated so generously, I feel I ought to make it up somehow.
Belcoot: Ah, but you're a deserving man. I'm sure it won't matter either way.
Geddoe: *lowers his head and chuckles to hide a hint of a blush* Thank you. That's very kind of you to say. I'll be sure to drink a toast to your health and happiness when I crack open that bottle.
Belcoot: That's good to hear -- and maybe we'll share a few drinks sometime, regardless. *continues smiling, and pushes himself off the railing to stand up straight*
Geddoe: I promise to go easy on you. *holds out his hand for a handshake* You're a good man, Belcoot. Don't let anyone tell you differently.
Belcoot: *looks slightly surprised, but pleased nevertheless -- he takes Geddoe's hand firmly, shaking it* Thank you -- and the same to you. Hopefully the few drinks will be under my tolerance level, as well. *laughs*
Geddoe: You have my word that if you slip up, I won't let what happened to Kyle happen to you. *grins rogueishly*
Belcoot: *laughs, almost nervously* I'm sure I'd be forced to harm Roget if I ended up in a sitaution like that. Your word is comforting.
Geddoe: Having seen your swordwork, I fear for the boy's head. Don't worry about it. *nods firmly* Seriously, though. A little of that scented oil in the bath ought to soothe some aches and pains, I'll bet.
Belcoot: Yes, I'm sure it'll be useful after fights and such -- something I have a feeling I'll be getting into lately, what with all these warriors around. Either way, it should come in useful, for different reasons than Roget expected. *wry smile*
Geddoe: All that matters is that you put it to some use one way or another. Certainly... *pats him heavily on the shoulder* ...we could do with quite a bit of sparring around here. And Juan mentioned a tournament. I'm rather looking forward to testing the mettle of Georg.
Belcoot: Ah -- he's a strong fighter, that's for sure. I don't think I could match him, though I've never tried myself. I'm certainly looking forward to testing the likes of you and him. I'm sure I'll learn many things. *glances at the hand on his shoulder for a moment and grins* Maybe I'll be able to teach a few things as well.
Geddoe: *nods again and withdraws* I'd like to see the Kanakan sword style up close. There's nothing I value more than a strong fighter, and a smart one, too. I'll be sure to set aside the time to fit you in around all these others who'd like a piece of me.
Belcoot: I'd like that. *grins* Certainly popular, aren't you?
Geddoe: I don't know where it comes from. I've spent decades as a loner, all the attention is tough to take all at once.
Belcoot: At least it's a good sort of attention. *absently looks out the window* Ah, anyway, I'd better be heading off.
Geddoe: Thank you, again. You do me honor. *bends to pick up the bottle* I think I'll go put this in a nice, safe place for now.
Belcoot: That sounds good. *nods to him* I'll see you around the castle sometime then, Geddoe.
Geddoe: Indeed. I'll see you later, Belcoot.
