Happy Monday.

In all fairness, it started on Sunday.

My flight AA4052 ORD->IAD was an Embraer ERJ operated by American Eagle, and the last flight to Dulles. Apparently last night was one of the worst storms DC has seen in a while. ERJ not happy in that weather. AA4052 scrubbed. So I get to hoof it from the far end of ORD's G concourse to H6 to catch the last flight to BWI. Not that I want to go to Baltimore, but I guess it's better than oh, ATL? LGA?

New flight AA1142 ORD->BWI. delayed by ground stop for all traffic to east coast. Then while doing startup checks, they discover "alternate static source failure" or some such technobabble, and they get us another MD S80. Which means I didn't push back until 2213CDT.

AA1142 was choppy and we spent half the flight "descending to Baltimore", which wouldn't have bothered me, except my ears were killing me. And then we touched down at BWI at 0130EDT. Being less than a complete idiot, I called almeda and asked her to get me a car at BWI, b/c there weren't going to be any left at 1am.

45minutes to get from the jetbridge to the rental garage, and an hour in line at the agency, and at 0315EDT I roll out of BWI in a convertible, in the blinding rain. Only to get lost in southern Maryland and go the wrong way round the Beltway. I don't recommend trying to drive from one strange city to another strange city at 3am in the driving rain, in an unfamiliar car.

so I went down the Baltimore Washington Parkway (beautiful road, but just dark and wet at 3:30am) and then went south on I495/I95 until I got almost to the Virgina boarder, to find the road (all 5 lanes of Beltway) closed due to flooding and get diverted onto the I295 north into downtown. Then I395 south past the Pentagon and Washington National Airport to the correct part of I495 and finally to the hotel at about 05:30, just in time to get 2 hours sleep, wash the traveller's funk off my body and drag myself to the RedHat training two blocks away.

Now to find some real coffee and maybe a way to prepare it tomorrow morning before taking the car to DCA. If I'm lucky I'll get to put the top down for a minute or two.
