if i had a choice of being assfucked to the tenor saxophone part in huey lewis and the news' 1984 hit "The Heart Of Rock 'N Roll", or having to sit through an entire dave matthews band concert... i would pick the assfucking.
i sit in dallas, texas, once again for truck maintenance. we have a brand new truck, but the entire fuel system is somehow already fucked. the truck needs new injectors, plus there is some wicked electrical problem, which means we sit here, not making money. sweet. i'm glad schneider paid 120grand for a giant turd lemon.
lately this job has been driving me completely insane. at this point in time i can not see much reason to enjoy it, other than the travel aspect. most people just think in order to be a fatass trucker, all you need to do is hop in a seat and drive eleven hours down the road. there's more to it than that, but one day when i have more time, i shall go in to detail of how the oh-so-critically-important-to-our-economy-job-of-truckdrivermotherfuck-turd-sniff------,,,-----,,,---- really sucks balls. although +break into billy mays infomercial mode+ hey kids! if you've recently graduated from college and can't find a job in your field, after having blown all of your parent's money on a useless major, then fuck it! be a trucker! move america! earn forty grand your first year! enjoy travel and great benefits! miss your family and friends, and become a zombie! remember kids, good stuff... truckers bring it!
fuck.
in other news.
somehow i still have a girlfriend. all i can say is that ash is hardcore for putting up with my bullshit. and this job's bullshit. shit. bull.
we're also getting a new apartment, so that's cool. but i hate moving and unpacking so that blows.
i just signed up to take the ACT + writing for june, 9. i know, only six years late, but who cares? this makes me feel kind of responsible and also has lit a little tiny fire under my bum to actually get shit started. shit as in, actual life goals and whatnot. i think i've decided on a possible major. it incorporates many different things i find interesting. the job outlook is good, and the starting salary range that i've seen has been not-too-shabby. plus, if i could get a job in this particular field, i could pretty much work anywhere. no, it's not teaching. fuck that.
random list-o-places i've enjoyed while trucking...
-Oregon (along the columbia, portland, high desert, mt.hood)
-Montana (everything about it)
-California (LA is insane, sacramento is nice, mt.shasta is pretty)
-New Mexico (driving at night, looking up at the stars, meteors-a-plenty)
-Virginia (rolling hills of the shenandoah valley)
-The Gulf Coast/New Orleans (before it was blown up by katrina, even now it's still fucked)
-Laredo, Texas (it's very near hell on earth)
-Utah (Routes 6 & 191, through Arches National Park)
-Washington State (lots of trees, mountains, mt.rainier is awesome)
-Southern South Carolina (lakes = pretty)
-New Jersey (i love the crazy drivers and non-truck friendly roads)
that's all i can think of.
