This is the text of the scroll being made for my husband, written by a local Knight-bard, Sir Marcus de la Forest
In the army of great Basil did Kaios when his fame
Known as Alexandrou for his father's given name
From the city he marched out to crush the rebel Scleros
A hemilochites he returned, one of Ceasar's honored men

Phocas likewise was put down on the orders made by Kaios
Aleppo was relieved by Kaios' men for Ceasar's glory
A Protostate was he named in the battle's oft-told story
Huscarl said the axe-men of Ceasar's foreign guard
From the Danube unto Syria spread bold Kaios' fame
Then Sobastocrator called Kaios away to the Calon plains
Where he served as monarch's man tho a huscarl's life be hard
And further glory did he gain to be sung by Calon bards
