I'm now in encore again, after having lots of fun (and some boredom) playing through first runthrough. It was kind of fun going through the different party levels (man, I forgot what that was like) and testing out different parties and party level limits. I was also really low level, with everyone only about two levels away from Serenade and Crescendo.
Ended the game at level 50 with Salsa, March, and Serenade. Because I could.
Now that I've just recently played party levels 1-5, I'm now reconsidering tactics in certain areas with different party levels. Having 5 seconds of attack time and infinite tactical time of party level 2 might really really help in areas that I can't punch through their armor.
In the first areas, though, there's really no reason (that I can think of) to not be at party level 6.
Rondo was a dirty battle. It went so fast that I don't believe I had time to poison her, which is now my standard tactic against all really goddamned fast bosses (which are all human, incidentally). Between Frederic on burst and Viola magically not being stabbed in the back, they took her down in about six turns (two each).
Fugue was annoying as all hell. Second time would have been easy if Polka didn't get hell mustarded, but because she was, she was forced to be in the crowd and they all almost went down because of that. Third time was the worst (because they were so low in level) and he ended up dying from poison before I could revive Falsetto.
Dolce first was ridiculously simple. Of course the battle was pretty complicated since you have to make sure that they don't keep getting killed, but what ended up happening was Beat taking down Bass and Guitar. Second and third were harder, but not that much so.
Waltz I wanted to have the munchkins and Viola do the battle, but my mom pointed out that I probably didn't want to spend the time doing so, so instead I just saved it before the battle and did it with Jazz, Allegretto, and Frederic, I believe. (Maybe I should call that the Hayate-san team.)
I also ran out of money pretty fast, because I simply didn't fight enough to collect items and more money.
Their levels were really funny. Almost everyone was equal level when I got them, with the exception of Crescendo and Serenade in the mirror. I was kind of shocked because I had never been so close to March's level when I got her before.
Naturally, this made just about every single boss double the speed of my party. If it was encore, I'd've been cursing at some battles, because the AI sometimes did some really dirty stuff to me, like combo me to death (that is, once you fail the first block, the character dies automatically because no window will appear in time).
Sometimes the AI did weird stuff, like have the garlic dads walk around. I couldn't believe my eyes at that, because they almost never /move/...
I swear that my AI is learning stuff, though, because bosses used to never stab me in the back the first three times, and now they like to do it at least three times in one fight (which usually means auto-death).
Of course, the second time through I levelled up really high (something I have no patience to do anymore), with Frederic with Orzel Bialy (sp?) at the first pirate battle, and Spirits Pathway at Tuba's. (That's crazy. I just stick with Polka or Viola to do my healing these days, both of whom get theirs at level 15, not 24.)
Munchkins were hard to use this time around (because their levels were too low to have their 12+ hit attacks), so I used them a lot in the double reed tower. Beat I had in the lead in the beginning because he falls behind (like Polka) in the end for me.
I seriously wish that they gave her Disruption Wave instead of Pure Geyser. Just switch those two and maybe she might actually be useful for a longer time...! >_< Allegretto is hard to use in mid-game, because he didn't even have Starlight Blast....
In my dreams only (strength adjusted to level with exception of heals):
1. Lv.28 Disruption Wave, Lv.32 Roundel, Lv.38? Blossom Shower, Lv.42? Zodiac, Lv.48? Pure Geyser
2. Lv.20 Spirits Pathway, Lv.24 Mirage Blow, Lv.46 Tri-Clementia, Lv.52 Phantom Pain
3. Lv.1 Sky Divider, Lv.4 Fire Wave, Lv.20 Sun Slash
4. Lv.17 Solar Flare & Grand Slam (& SS), Lv.23 Dark Nebula, Lv.30 Iron Cross...
5. Lv.11 Full Barrage & Bone Crumble, Lv.15 White Dagger, Lv.20 Heal Arrow, Lv.30 Hawk Eye, Lv.35 Sacred Strike, Lv.40 Evil Strike, Lv.50 Night Arrow
6. Lv.23 Raven Blast?, Lv.63 Plasma Chains
7. Give Crescendo a faster hitting rate and all will be well. -_-
8. Lv.18 Willow Strike & Dragon Blow, Lv.20 Night Fist, Lv.25 Phoenix Rising, Lv.30 Snow Claw, Lv.40 Howling Thunder, Lv.50 Shadow Beam, Lv.60 Death Chasm
9. Serenade is fine just as she is.
10. Beat is okay (just take off the limiters on his attacks...)
11. Lv.22 Beast Meteor, Lv.35 Bird Swarm, Lv.45 Obsidian Needle, Lv.55 Wolf Fang, Lv.65 Aiator Horn.
12. March is okay.
Main ones I wish were altered (in order): Polka, Claves, Viola, Jazz, and Salsa. And Crescendo and Beat, so I can use them more. -_-
