In 1996 I picked up a softcover copy of The Eye of the World at the recommendation of a classmate. The Wheel of Time only had a few books out, but the world was vast and historied, being written by Robert Jordan; our contemporary Tolkien.
The story drew me in, and for the last 17 years I have anticipated the next book in the series. On Tuesday, the final book was released. This morning I finished it and now tearfully proclaim that I have no regrets following the story to completion. Brandon Sanderson did a masterful job stepping up to fill Robert Jordan's shoes after his unexpected death. I look forward to speaking with him on his book signing tour once more and thanking him for bringing the end of the story to fans.
I'm not sure there will be another series in my life that I follow quite like I did The Wheel of Time. Thank you Robert Jordan, and Brandon Sanderson.
