I'm starting to understand the allure of Twitter and why it has resulted in the loss of quality posts, or any posts at all really, on LJ. It's designed to be fast and easy, with a quick turnaround for responses. In fact odds are good that tiny posts will be buried under many other peoples tiny posts very quickly, so you either get a response quickly or generally not at all. It's also designed so that insubstantial posts are the majority, where LJ's format almost asks that you sit and think about what you're putting on paper.

Anyway, news with me. I was given a cell phone by a friend who had two. This is the first cell phone I've had in many many years; the last one I had was built in 2003. The plan and reason to get a used one anyway is to use it as a PDA, primarily to keep track of calendar events and to help me keep track of calories and realistically monitor my diet. Already since Monday when I started this diet I've dropped six lbs. I realize that's an unrealistic expectation to maintain, and my actual diet is designed to lose about 1.5 lbs per week; I expect that most of what I've lost is just water weight. Already though I feel a good bit healthier (although definitely hungrier) and more energetic, which has lead to me actually getting more exercise on top of eating fewer calories. This thing predicts that I should be 177 by around my birthday. I started at 190, and my birthday is october 1st. I'd be ecstatic if that happens.

Also today I did some well needed car maintenance, though not quite everything I wanted to get to. I did replace the air filter, oil filter, and change the oil though, which were the key parts of what I wanted to get done. On my to do list tomorrow is rotate the tires. After work of course.
