arg! i hate it!!!!

some days i want a baby so bad it hurts.  and then i think of what i would be like as a mother and i change my mind.

so...baby sitting it is...

i want so many things in my life.  i want to be a stay at home mom and wife and i want all the things that the morman church told me i should have since i was little...but at the same time...i want a career.
i want to be free and have fun and go any where i want at any time.  i want to put my fingerprint on the world so that i can leave some thing behind...something for me to be remembered by.
like maya daren...most people have never heard of her.  most people who have heard of her don't really care because her movies were so off the wall and abstract.  i realised that most of my ideas and my films that i did in the past. (the film i did for the film festival at mountain view at the end of the year...that life one...is a good example to this.) are very simaler to hers.  and i didn't even know about her or her movies till a couple months ago.  she said once that "My hope isnot to make the best film in the world.  I understand that most people do not like my films.  my only hope is that you will remember the images that i have captured for the rest of your life."
i feel myself.  slowley and strongley waring against it's other half.  trying to battle for a career vs. a family.
maya deren is my new idol.   only i hope i don't ever die like she did.  even though she died in doing something she believed in strongley.  this is the movie she died for.  the movie she said was the movie she was born to make.  i don't advise any one to watch it.  it is said to be a cursed film.  it is the film that kills.
maya travaled to a far place and found a tribe of people that believed in dark magic and vudue.  she saw them do a dance called the dance of death and love.  maya (a former dance herself) fell in love with the dance and decided to fiml it.
during filming a man had a heart attack and died.  when maya started editing it she had a brain hemeradge and died in the cutting room floor.  her husband tried edditing it and he died while edditing as well.  maya's daughter hired a man and his wife to eddit it and some how they did so with out dieing. since then there have been a lot of reports of people dieing while viewing maya derens last film.  some people say you have to watch it with some one you truley love to stay alive.

Volume Two

Edited 1977 by Teiji and Cherel Ito
VHS, black and white
sound, 60 minutes
$100

In 1947 Maya Deren traveled to Haiti to make a film on Trance Dancing. Once there she realized that in the Voudoun culture, dance, and prayer were one and the same, and her focus shifted to the Haitian rituals. This film includes footage of both the secular and religious dances of the Congo and Yoruba and is a excellent introduction to the Voudoun religion of Haiti. Shot in 16mm B&W, this is the storied film that took decades to complete following Maya Deren's death. It is the companion to her book of the same title
(this is a picture of one of the clips in the movie.)
