Amaya is a man with beast-like power & brutality. But, to portray him as a normal human who seemed sharp and strong given the situation [he's in], I had a hard time. (laughs) For example, he would glare at an opponent like a snake does to a frog. It's only a glare, a scary face, but just an eerie face is no good. Real hatred has to be there. I have to look down on my opponent and truly make him shiver, [I] realized that it's [all] trial and error. In this film, there are a lot of glaring scenes, I'll be happy if for a moment the viewers thought "I got chills". (laughs) To able to work with Director Miike after a long time, made me very excited. 10 years ago, I was under his supervision in "Yokai Daisensou" (05), before filming [started] I was extremely looking forward to it.
