Update on pregnant woman shot
MELBOURNE - A pregnant woman was in stable condition today after suffering a gunshot wound, said Melbourne Police Department spokeswoman Jill Frederiksen.
The shooting happened at 7:10 a.m. outside of Wickham Club Apartments, which is off Wickham Road and north of Lake Washington Road.
The woman - whose age and identity are unknown at this time - was in the parking lot outside the apartment complex when two men approached her, Frederiksen said.
The woman fled from the men and was shot while running toward her apartment.
Police are looking for the two men, who left the scene in a beige, four-door Buick with a tan top. Police found bloodstains in the car’s interior when it was recovered in Cocoa not long after the shooting.
The victim’s gunshot wound is not life-threatening, Frederiksen. She was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne where she is in stable condition.
