Had a GREAT day today. Of course, this came after an entire weekend of really bad pain, but oh well. I'll take the small victories when they come.

I always appreciate your analysis on topics like this. In particular, I thought it was interesting that you mentioned the "cure for cancer" myth that is tossed about with such impunity. People come up to me, honestly, and say "Hopefully we'll find a cure for cancer soon". It's like, ok, you have no idea what cancer even is, do you? Breast cancer is not lung cancer is not bone cancer etc. Not even mentioning the various forms of each of these. I do think that research will keep finding more effective drugs, better tests, better surgical options, etc...but until we actually find out what is causing all the gazillion types of cancer and can eliminate all those things (not bloody likely) cancer will always be out there. That whole "survivor" thing plays into that idea that a cure is just around the corner...that cancer is something that comes and goes and you're all better, something you can just find a good pill for and never worry again for the rest of your life because you are a survivor. My relatives honestly do not understand ( ... )
